I'll just put a spoiler tag here in case you don't want to know what some of the later floor encounters are:
On floor 98, the F6 encounter only has Ghost Ships which only have one hp so you can just do unarmed strikes to one hit kill them. Just be aware that they're hitting in the thousands for physical damage and can use an ability that completely lowers physical defense. Otherwise, it's a fairly easy way to gain exp and money. As for reaching floor 98, if you have greater descension to just drop your way all the way down, a safe space to land is 98/y50/x50
don't worry, gold comes by REAL easy later on, so it won't even be a concern, lol
for now though, just avoid FC tiles until you can deal 10k damage and you know you can kill these guys before they take their turn (preferably with a member that has 90-150 SPD)
EDIT: Okay, nevermind. Figured out why the quote wasn't working. He didn't use the proper closing tag for his spoiler, so it was screwing up my post, lol. It should be good now.
Honestly, if you're going for strictly money, you can find it even earlier than that on floor 89.
Even just one ghost at that level drops 35k and they're stupid easy to kill, lol. Also, I'd advise against going in unarmed. You should have the Chirijisayagata at that point, which makes quick work of them and anything on that floor since you're dealing direct damage to HP. Sure, it's RNG damage, but it'll destroy those ships fast since they only have 1 HP anyway, lol. It's real nice when you can clear out 4-5 enemies at once when it hits for like 150-200k though.
I've got 5 uses of Greater Descension but I'm not sure if that ever increases. Is there a good spot to start and drop down to get to floor 98?
For sure! I mentioned the unarmed strikes since I wasn't sure how far they were into the game yet, but Chirijisayagata works wonders. I personally feel like Houk Gao is probably the best human character in the game at this point. His personal weapon just shreds everything except for super enemies, but at that point you just have him equipped with an address blade too. Gotta love when you're hitting for a million damage.
No it doesn't increase, but just as long as you don't attempt to use it randomly from floors 80+, you should be fine. If you drop past floor 99 though, your party gets scattered and you'll have to find them as wanderers. My recommendation is dropping as far as you can while stopping on the 9th floors to get your shortcuts back home.
Mostly I'm just not sure where to descend from to hit 98, i'm only ready to fight stuff in the 40s but my lowest teleport is to level 69. Is there any specific address I should be descending from/to?
(PS i made it down to 89 and the 00 encounters still drop 10-20G like they did at the top of the dungeon haha)
I wasn't referring to the 00 encounters, lol. Those are just random low level variations they occasionally spawn on lower floors. I was referring to the higher level version (which are still weak, but just have a slight boost in PDEF/MDEF/HP). If you find level 1-20 enemies on floors 80+, they'll still give you the same item/gold/exp they did on earlier floors :^)
69/y72/x74 Great Descend
88/y72/x74 Great Descend
91/y50/x50 Great Descend
93/y50/x50 Descend
94/y50/x50 Descend
95/y50/x50 Descend
96/y50/x50 Great Descend
And voila you're now on floor 98!
Edit: I misread your comment about how much gold they were dropping. Like Fenrir mentioned, the higher leveled enemies are great for farming some cash too.
Will definitely keep that in mind, though the 50,000 pdef those ghosts have is a little much to cut through right now, haha
Oh nice, thank you! Immediately got an encounter with 6 ships at once and wiped my party, but now I have a route to go pick them up lmao
One other tip that'll make your life MUCH easier:
Try using Gambler's shift to explore a bit on floor 98.
Floor 98 is where the teleporter is. He can just fight most things there or run away in case they encounter multiple black holes or something, lol. That place has an abundance of enemies and plenty of resources, so I'd just clear out the entire floor since it's pretty small anyway.
Other than that, I'd avoid using that ability on floor 90+ anyway since there is a sudden increase of pitfalls and he could lose his party members (there aren't any on floor 98 or 99, fortunately, but just talking about the rest of the floors, basically).
Also, just as a sidenote, can you properly tag your spoilers? It makes quoting your posts kinda wack since you just use [ spoiler ] to close them as well, instead of [/], so people will constantly have to correct that mistake if they quote your posts, lol.
Now I'm confused? I've only just been doing [spoiler.]Text[spoiler.] minus the periods.
yeah, it'll automatically close the tag for you if you don't properly tag it, but it makes quoting posts weird because it doesn't read the proper tag since it didn't include the /, lol
I've had to edit your post twice now because of that, so just giving a heads up for future instances :^)
