Basement Storage Key Not Working

I'm having an issue with the basement storage key. I have the key, I go to the basement, I go to the door, I try the door, it's locked, and I open my inventory and click on the key, nothing happens. However, I can try the key on the stairs door, which obviously doesn't work but it does prove that the key is actually in my inventory and I can click to use it but not on the door. Any suggestions?

Could you send a screen cap of your inventory with the key? Also are you trying the right door?

Make sure you're trying the wooden door, Not the iron door.

I have been stuck on this for an entire day and am very grateful for this helpful thread! I can't believe I played this entire game without even noticing that wood door to the right of the lockers! Thank yoU!
