There are other similar games to this one. But none of them are as well done as this game! However this is not much of a Single Player game and needs to be played with friends. Because it can become boring really fast, even though this game has a lot of things going for it. It is like a casual game, but it has a moderate learning curve, not an easy one though.

There are many things that are still confusing to me, even after spending 25 minutes on the tutorial. The actual gameplay took me about 75 minutes and came close to win it, but lost. This game has therefore some replayability for SP players. But I would say no more than 5 times before you'll put it on a shelf. And only because it could be fun to learn how to play it properly. So it should be played with friends. Then it will be worth the price.

It has nice design and animations. You can play with up to 3 AI bots on a single map. But only 2 maps are available at the moment. The rest will probably be available as DLC.

It's really addicting. I only play vs AI but it's just a joy and with my novice experience every game feels close. I would recommend turning off visible scoring to mimic the board game and not make bad decisions looking at short vs long game.

UI could be improved a little bit for me to easily see what I have (housing resource count) at a glance, the various overlays don't quite do it for me. Maybe there is a better way and I'm just too new.

Music is great though I wish there were some more varied tracks instead of what feels like the long "one" song built in.

Concordia is the digital edition of a board game. It runs quite well on Linux with Proton support.

I didn't know that board game yet, but it is fascinating, because it works without the common dices other board games work with.

You are a merchant starting from old Roman Empire in Rome. You could expand your trade connections on foot or by ship. In every city you reach, you are able to found an outpost to collect the riches and pay that outpost with the goods you hold. The goods you hold are limited as well as the playcards you are able to play every round. The interesting part is the timing and which combination you choose from. So every game gets unique and it is an interesting challenge against the well operating AI.

Besides that, you can compete against other players online, which I didn't try yet. There are a few DLC's, which bring in new maps. First I thought the usual european map gets expansions, but no, the DLC's are standalone in-depth parts of that known world, some with new features.

Recommended? Yes, if you like board games without a dice and intelligent combinations of the goods and cards you hold on your hand. It is stable and fun and if you could grab it on a sale you can't go wrong.

Context: I have played the physical game before

What I liked:

1. Great AI scaling (played 2p and 3p games so far)
2. Same great game as the physical game
3. Solo mode really helps me squeeze game in when there are no other players
4. game calculates costs and displays them very clearly for you, so less time doing mental calculations and more time strategising.

What I think could improve:

1. Interface feels a little busy, despite clean look, it takes a bit of effort to see what cities you or your opponent has activated or owns.
2. Sometimes unclear what actions the AI opponent has taken (luckily there is a log for you to go through)


All in all very enjoyable app version of the game.

For those who have not played the physical game before, probably a good idea to watch some reviews on the board game to see if it is your cup of tea.

The game works fine. Could use a few ui improvements. Cards need pop ups/tool tips, especially for scoring. Hard to get a response from the developer.

Biggest complaint: All players must own all the same content! Only one player the host should need the dlc and others can join. Pretty standard.

This digital version lives up to the beloved underlying game. Overall, it's a delight.

A bad UI can ruin a great game (see, for example, all the sad reviews about games Digidiced has ported to digital, like Isle of Skye and Castles of Burgundy), but this one is easy to use and doesn't disrupt play at all. This UI is reasonably intuitive, displays needed information clearly even on a relatively small screen (I usually play on a touch screen), and has a good balance of providing information without too much clutter. The running score total broken down by your current game position and cards is well done. It's visually appealing without losing functionality.

The AIs have a good range of difficulty - while no AI is ever going to be as good as an excellent human player, I've played a decent amount IRL and in this version and the top level AI still isn't a "gimme." I had a family member who's never played try playing this solo in preparation for playing an IRL game together. They got all the basic mechanics and strategies down fine from this version, so it also works for people new to the game. And if one person leaves an online game, they're replaced with a difficult-level AI, which is much better than the games that end the game for everyone if one person bails.

You'll probably want to get the "Season Pass" so you can get access to all the maps and expansions. (Despite how it's labeled, it's not time-limited, it's just a way to prepurchase all of the content in a bundle even though not all of the DLC is finished yet.) The additional maps and expansions make the replayability of this game go way up.

Minor things will hopefully get fixed in time. The UI currently covers up your hand when you open the Forum cards view, the maps excessively limits how far you can zoom out (especially problematic with vertical maps), and online games can occasionally get a bug that won't let people take their turns.

It's also remarkably annoying that online games won't let you use a display color if someone has already chosen it - it's pretty standard for games to let people display in whatever color they want on their own screen, regardless of others' display choices. If you're playing yellow in one game and switch to another where you have to remember to look for blue's pieces, it's jarring, and for no reason - everyone's looking at their own screens, after all, they won't know if the "green" player looks red on someone else's screen.

The developer was quick to fix a bug I previously reported, so I'm hopeful those rough edges will also get polished once they're done with the rest of the maps and expansions.

Like:
- Concordia is a very good boardgame in itself
- All expansions available so far are also ok in the digital game

Dislike:
- Buggy net code, e.g. randomly transferred me to another room repeatedly while using a Prefect Card
- Could have bugs when using green forum tiles, e.g. game fails to register money gained mid-action, friend ran into issues when using the tile for building salt city.
- Only have intra-turn undo button, no inter-turn one for when players makes input errors. Developer could have easily added one that require consensus among players if the idea is to prevent cheating or abuse.
- Just got into another bug where the system kept stopping me from moving my colonists, saying I was backtracking when I even tried undoing or even leaving lobbying and returning again.
- Bugs just keep popping up and I ran into another one now: I can't even enter words with multiple characters while using Steam Deck, whether for room passwords or for searching player by name.


Please fix these bugs, we have had multiple games having these bugs, leaving a sour taste in everyone's mouth.

Concordia is a great starting point for someone looking for their first complex board game. The rules are simple, but there is a lot of complex decisions regarding how many workers you need, where to send them, how many houses to build in how many provinces, hand management, money management, inventory management, and choosing cards that synergize with your goods to trigger end game bonuses. Concordia is a highly rated board game and I think this port is solid.

I like the live scoreboard, it helps keeps the score close and the game tense. The new art for the cards is better than the original game. The 3-D game board is well done with the animations and it helps the workers stand out.

I think the tutorial is lackluster and the UI takes a while to get used to. Fortunately the rule book is short and there is a built in glossary if you have any questions.

I think the A.I. is pretty good and it helped me improve my game because I noticed I wasn't being optimal with the prefect and diplomat cards.

I didn't notice any bugs and the game runs smooth so I'm happy overall :)

Concordia is my favourite boardgame. I love the ancient Roman theme, the fascinating tactics and multiple routes to victory, along with a focus on strategy (with minimal luck). The digital version is a good adaptation. There is more maps and expansions coming. The developers are also pretty good at resolving any technical issues - and had a great time in the Concordia tournament (came 4th overall).

The UI is a little confusing and it could do with some quality of life features. Being able to mouse-over the cards an opponent has played for example would make the Diplomat a little bit more convenient. Overall though a very good adaptation of an excellent board game.
