There would be the argument of the Casual rooms which have no stakes or rewards involved, but people have apparently experienced opponents bringing their top-level Decks (who might just be practicing against other players and not wanting to play against the Solo Mode AI, for all we know).
This "special version of YGO" that you're asking for seems more like asking people to not approach the game a certain way (such as competitive mindset, Deck optimization, etc.). No "version" of the game that lets you play against others is likely going to have that (at least that I am aware of or can remember), because people can still approach that with a competitive mindset and find a way to optimize their builds all the same.
As this seems to be more of an issue of player mindset, you'd likely have to find specific players or groups of players to play with if you want a more "casual", or at least less competitive, experience (for lack of a better phrasing).
And that's before touching the topic of "fun".
if you're looking for "anime duels" so to speak, you are better off either playing private matches with your friends & likeminded individuals or only playing the themed events that have restrictive banlists to enforce the theme, like Legends Anthology or the various Synchro / XYZ / Fusion / etc festivals
So is this game fun? Yeah, it is sometimes, but not always, especially when you keep going second or your opponent activates Maxx C with no hand trap in hand to negate that cockroach. I am kinda okay with all the tier 1, 2 and 3 decks. I do not use one myself currently, but I can put up a good fight and sometimes I win.
It is a pay to win game, not a competitive game.
Yeah, but once you get to Diamond, you either have to grind for months if you have a life to get one of the Tier 1, or 2 decks, OR pay your way to Snake-Eye that can most of time give you an easy win. Hardly any skill needed.
I thought you said this was a competitive game, and OP should deal with it, and not a crawl back to doing daily missions for gems in hope one day you get the cards you need to compete at the highest level kind of game.
OP, you should deal with it and shower Konami with that sweet cash if you want to enjoy beating the underprivileged who cannot afford Snake-Eye yet.
You don't always get lucky, no matter how wise you are.
I had one made by the end of my 2nd month playing... and I started halfway into a month, mostly doing solo stuff to horde the gems. Haven't really felt pressured to buy gems to keep up with maintaining a Tier 1 deck ever since, while also being able to make a few lower tier options. It does require relatively consistent playing, but you can easily get 8-10k gems each month.
