As for the Cup event, it is by far the worst event in the game. I'd say it's worse than rank since all the sweats come out in force.
I can't really argue with that since I agree, but what can you do? A week of down time isn't so bad considering people need time to rank up since a good chunk of gems come from it. But the fact like 1/2 or 1/3 of the events are cups is pretty gross since its literally ranked but on steroids.
edit: Ah, I remember now, I wound up picking a fight with you on the DD2 forums. Sorry again about that confusion. Your avatar is actually kind of popular @_@
That said its duelist cup next month
The dice event was great because it toned down solitaire decks that flooded their boards with control effects to deny their opponent from playing.
Variety is the spice of life.
Maybe you didn't catch that I did like the event for the very obvious flaw in the fact it was just an another extra deck type slop event I want them to do something more fun more interesting you probably do too we all should.
It's not the same as dueling randoms and trying to go up against their strategies versus a friend who you already know what they're going to do or play. Besides sometimes I just want to take an afternoon to duel away, and that's just simply not possible with my friends who are interested in yugioh. They either live in different time zones or have a night job. It's just not a feasible replacement.
Idk what you were hoping for them to do, but this is literally the most "interesting" they been in years. Like Papa Shekels said, every other event has been some variation of format change.
It's unfortunate you didn't get to play your Punks, from what I've seen they seemed like an interesting deck to pilot. I too wanted to try some synchro strategies with Hop Ear Squadron and the monster you get given, but I still managed to find other neat strategies moving out of my comfort zone.
What I expect either a simple ban list picking holes in the most popular strategies in ranked or for it to be more interesting than synchros are banned I assure you if this did not have the dice gimmick I would be trashing this event for all its worth I have been incredibly consistent that banlists that just blanket ban extra deck types are bad even if I have a deck I enjoy for it.
