20 GB? The required and recommended space on the store is 16 GB and looking on my machine it actually takes up less than 12 GB.

Though oddly steam claims there's only about 300 MB installed, dunno what that's about. The updates I've encountered mostly seem to be for changing tournaments and stuff, only a few hundred MB or less each time.

They have to add in the new textures, coding pngs. We got the new pack; that by itself have to come with every single card from that pack and all its raritys (non-foil, glossy and royal finish). Then rewrrite the code that determinates how those new cards interact with others and with the game's mechanics/rulings. We also have the new login campaing so that also have its own artworks.

Every time there is even the smallest of updates, there will be new data required for the game.

Becuase thats the "mandatory" download throught Steam; basically is just the launcher. Its a very common practice for games on steam that are also mobile compatible. Since the updates and full game is downloaded directly from the game's server.
