tips on building an anti-meta monarch deck?

don't do it, can't do it. monarchs simply cannot compete with the current meta. hasn't been able to for years. i tried for a long time to do the same. it would be a waste of mats, gems, time. floowandereeze is kinda the new monarchs and even they are just bad now. you'll have to wait for konami to create a new archetype that fits your playing style. or play stun xD

Best bet you'd have is to pair it with Horus but it's going to be janky no matter what you do. Monarchs died when Treeborn Monarchs stopped being viable.

Unfortunately, it's one of those decks that becomes better the more monarch cards you remove from the deck. The only way to realistically have any success with it nowadays is playing it as a stun deck with monarchs erupt and deep drawing into it with cards like pantheism. The only "monarch" monster worth playing would be majesty's fiend, maybe caius. Vanity's fiend is pretty good in there too but doesn't have the 2400/1000 stat line. Stormforth to bring out your floodgate monsters while breaking a board, and the rest is either draw cards, removal, or more floodgates. That's basically how any monarch deck has looked for quite a few years now

This. Floowandereeze is the more modern spin on the Monarch strategy and you're better off running the birds. It's basically just a floodgate deck that has trouble keeping up with meta decks because of a limited number of useful Winged Beast tribute summons. Do get to use Raiza though.

Yeah. Floo even got their Big bird back. True Draco is also doing better then I thought they would. Makes me wonder y nobody was bothering if they were this good all along.

If you're going to mention Stormforth, might as well mention Domain and Erupt. Comically powerful floodgates that don't matter because the user actually has to play under their restriction.

There's actually a Monarch variant that uses the extra deck as a resource. Their main combo involves using Zaborg the Mega Monarch to send cards like Elder Entity N'tss and Garura in order to destroy your opponent's cards and also draw cards. Here's a video with a Zaborg build

Not anti-meta, but definitely fun and unlike domain monarchs, can play through a good bit of disruptions

We're also about to have a significant meta shift sometime in the near future with Ryzeal/Maliss, so building "anti-meta" anything right now will be incredibly short lived.

Wait for the new support. They do have a few genuinely good cards coming. It won't make them Meta imo, but they will likely be playable.
