A lot of "Meta" deck don't run the Dragoon package due to it being a win more card. Up to three bricks (Two vanilla(or 1 if they have a fusion substitute of some kind) and Red-Eyes Fusion), requiring two material to go into Verte and fusing into Dragoon as their last summon.
Rogue decks can make use of Dragoon but most of their endboard are lack luster so every bit helps.
The two top decks, Yubel and Tenpai walks over Dragoon.
Works great. But comes at a huge cost of 3 bricks and advantage generation.
Both Red-Eyes Black Dragon and DM are bricks in Red-Eyes. Dunno about DM in DM but they don't have to play REBD to summon Dragoon unless they want to use REF in which case REBD would also be a brick for them.
Worse still, Dragoon in Branded can have the benefit of Branded Opening to protect it from being outed by battle.
Shining Sarc can make him pretty effortlessly too, which is particularly frustrating given that deck's propensity towards backrow floodgates.
Unbanning Dragoon was honestly just dumping gasoline on the fire though, so who really cares. This format sucks. Go first, bodied by board breakers, go second, play into six interactions plus a floodgate because it's the only way for anyone to reliably stop Tenpai. The game's never been this toxic before and I'm super done with it at this point.
When Googly-Eyes finally gets more support
Wait hold up it's Japanese name is Garbage-Eyes Fat Dragon so technically it's a Garbage-Eyes monster and not a Googly-Eyes monster. Still give them some support
I am definitely enjoying DM/Red Eyes deck tinkering and summoning Dragoon.
