Is the whole game like this?
It seems like 90% of my duels are either wating 8 minutes to get one shot or playing a single card and then waiting 5 minutes to take my turn because the opponent has to decide if they want to do something or not. Ive just started surrendering every time an opponent takes longer than like 3 minutes to play their giant combo or interrupts my turn 8 times 5 minutes each only to decide to do nothing at all. Its like watching paint dry. Does it get better?

Yes it is. This is modern yu-gi-oh and every single rabid blind fan boy will die on the hill claiming it's good. It's not, it's trash and quite frankly not fun anymore compared to any other card game out there. No limits on summoning so you have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this. It was fine when the game was in it's infancy because there weren't many cards that instantly be summoned from the beginning of the game that were actually as strong as they are now. You can play second or first in a draw of luck and slam your opponent with 4 2k damage monsters and spell/trap cards that negate everything you put down or just combo summon until either you finally bring out your 4500k slam pig that has a laundry list of negates and effects or your opponent falls asleep/surrenders. Again, all the blind fan boys of this garbage will say "theres so many cards that can prevent this! just play exactly this way (usually the meta with majority negation cards) and you will win bro!". Yeah. Real fun, everyone loves to play like a sweaty fat ass at a competitive convention using one of the 4 decks that are actually viable or stacking their cards with so many negate trap/spell cards that will just be voided anyways.

Yes sadly this is the modern yugioh, the peak of card gaming "evolution" where your deck needs to be 90% staple cards and the rest is your "archetype" Every deck vomits special summons and negates without a cost, What a fun! Such diverse gameplay! i can play the same deck with different skins/card art!!!! A powercrept cesspool, a sad pathetic version of the original back and forth fun game/gameplay. Be careful! The pathetic metard heads will defend this modern version of the game like the good stray dogs they are.
I really just want to play sushi ships because I like boats, but its challenging when my opponent turns up with like 12k attack power and negates every card in my deck on turn 2 because I got unlucky

It's better at the end of the month when all try hard players leave the lower ranks.

Really sad that OP is just blindly agreeing with people who don't modern Yugioh but they continue to stay. Aw well. I was gonna be kind and let them know that yes, it's how the game is. Since maybe Scientist FTK in 2005 maybe and just because you never heard of it doesn't mean it never existed. But aw well, you do you OP.
Hard to disagree with the harsh facts and truth, so don't blame the op.

Harsh facts and truth about what? That the game has been changing since 2002? If you think you're some prophet spreading the truth, go make a post and see how many people agree with you. Your trolling has been quite entertaining.

Yeah, good boy. Keep slurping up your card game slop, I'm sure your echo chamber community is proud of you.

not to interrupt the scock fight but there is a deck mainly dedicated to ships, ok you can continue
Can you say literally anything without it being so uncomfortably and stereotypically reddit-tier "who hurt you sweetie" type cringe. In any case, oh champion of thread derailment and purveyor of all things irksome, I'm not asking for deck advice because I already have ships. I'm complaining that every other game is just me tabbing out to youtube while I wait for an anti-fun combo to end, and I dont understand why there isnt like a casual mode for people who like to enjoy games. Maybe theres a forum somewhere that organizes such things in private rooms.

look, i remember i can do and say whatever comes to mind, i dont remember hiring a handler. I jest mainly, but nothing is ever serious since this is a children's card game. if i come off as so then alright, what eves man, you have your stuff to deal with. you reminded me of something and i suggest, you create your own deck and take stuff more than surface level... i hope
Translation: No, im stuck like this forever

That's YGO for ya.

You either play the meta engines or you might as well be playing Normal Monster Mash with how ineffective things can be.

Source: I like the Elementsaber archetype, I know that deck sucks and the only way to get it to work is to basically rip out 90% of the deck and replace it with unrelated but strong cards.
