How is the game?
I played religiously for the first year and wanted to hear the opinion of players who kept at it. What’s changed, what hasn’t?

I presume you mean Master Duel and not Yugioh itself.

The bot-issue of the early days has been corrected. Otherwise, not much is different. You still have the same F2P friendly practices in place. There is a Returnee code thing going on that gives you a vaguely competent deck for putting in one of the hundreds of codes people are posting all over these forums right now. The old meta decks like Drytron and Eldlich have long since passed from contention and are barely clinging on to rogue status, while new names have taken their place as overused top-end decks most people end up annoyed by.

So same old, same old.
Mechanically speaking, it's gotten a lot better. They've (very) slowly been adding in a lot of convenience features to the game. Things like a "related cards" button to read through archetypes mid-duel, an imperm column animation, indicators of lingering effects active during the turn, etc. Still missing some things, but it feels much closer to leaving beta testing than it did a year after launch. Also a fair few fun things as well - more banned cards have become craftable for duel rooms, many common staples have gotten animations, and some popular cards have gotten alt arts, although they are all URs and only available from packs during a limited time promotion.

In terms of the gameplay, it's still regular yugioh. We just got fiendsmith recently, so it is slowly catching up to the paper formats, but the card release schedule is also a bit different than TCG to allow formats that we have never truly seen before. Like right now we have wave 1 fiendsmith with azamina and snake-eye still being legal, which I don't think existed at this power level anywhere else. The ban list ideology is the same as it was early on, they still keep a lot of degenerate power cards legal so the game can feel really sacky at higher power levels. We still have cards like kitkallos, spright elf, arise-heart, and apollousa legal, but with consistency hits to the decks that can abuse them too often rather than hitting the ceiling
Really bad meta atm but problems like bots and timer stalling have been fixed.

Bad games and becoming worse after i notice lots of central asia name user. They just playing meta deck and nothing else.
Its better in places. The Meta is the Meta but if you just wanna play Yugioh I enjoy it well enough.
