Silly Yugioh Stories
For the holidays lets have some fun retelling some lighthearted Yugioh stories. Times where you made a deck to troll some people for some laughs or maybe there was a duel you had that was just completely nonsensical you want to share. Again, this is supposed to be for fun, no stories that revolve around ill intent or getting back at anybody. Just some good vibes, please. I have two I want to mention in particular.

One I mentioned a few times on this forum about a year ago during the 2024 event (ITS BEEN A YEARRRRRR AAAAAAAA), where everyone was playing burn cause haha fireworks and all that jazz. I faced against someone who used a darklord nurse/simochi deck and I sat there and thought "hey, with gift card, that's very thematic for the holiday season." so every time I popped someone (or just used it when I was about to lose cause I couldn't set up in time) with gift card, I'd shout out "Merry Christmas!", unfortunately to the ears of no one, but I do hope my opponents got the sentiment.

Another story I have was during the covid era, I don't remember if it was at the start or in the middle of it, but on Duel Links for the turbo gp event (basically a speed duel style event where you and your opponent ride on motorcycles) I had a silly idea. If we have to social distance in real life, let's have some fun on some motorcycles in game. So I put together a deck that would stall out turns until I get to play the 'Yu-Jo Friendship' with me saying the classic quote "Shake my hand, brother!" (if you know, you know) and unfortunately only around a handful of people accepted it willingly so I also had to whip out the 'Unity' card to forcibly shake my opponents hand while on motorcycles before flipping over a bunch of self burn cards to spin myself out and give my opponent the win after doing so.

Honestly, i wish I had some good stories to tell about YGO.

The best I could do is show some fun replays if I weren't too lazy to Youtube.

I don't know how funny it is, but waaaay back in the day when frogs weren't very good, I made a whole deck based around T.A.D.P.O.L.E and Des Frog that hinged around creature swapping tadpoles.

It was kinda funny watching people put out these cyber dragons BLS Envoy of the beginning just to give them a tadpole. I liked doing it with scape goat too

Nothing too specific, but it's funny how many times I choose to sit out a game that's basically lost and my opponent manages to perform the exact route required to fumble the win. It's a perfect analogue to the times you set up a seemingly unbreakable board and your opponent whips out the perfect combination of cards required to beat it. It helps you remember that it's just a card game and ♥♥♥♥ happens, one way or the other.

One specific one I remember was actually from the current event. I was on shaddoll vs. my opponent on dragons, I opened a bad hand and they drew a crazy amount of gas to get the rulers going turn 2. They also brought out koa'ki meiru dragon, which kind of shuts my whole deck down, and then spent more resources bringing it back when they saw I was on shaddolls. They could have lethaled me on turn 4 but played it safe, and I had to burn all my resources just to clear the board. With nothing but 2 shaddoll fusions to my name, I set a bluff and passed. I was already almost dead at this point, and again the opponent plays safe when they could lethal me. I was wondering what I could possibly draw to get out of this and the third (dead) shaddoll fusion comes up to answer that question. I just set another one as a bluff, while my opponent ignores lethal for the third time and makes probably the only play that doesn't win on that board - summon dracossack and pop the backrow, which prevents it from attacking that turn. That means my shaddoll fusion is finally live, but it still takes a few turns to get back into the game from there and I just narrowly manage to scrape by a win after 3 turns on death's door.

304-729-211 if you want to see it, might be a bit more interesting than reading it out, but that's the best I've got atm. There are so many silly things in there where you could ask "what are the chances" and they all lead up to exactly that outcome

I was playing Trickstars in the link/xyz event a while back, opened with a decent hand versus a bystial/orcust deck. He ashed my Light Stage so I just used Festival to go into Divaridis and burn him with that + Light Stage + Dark Room of Nightmare then set Magical Cylinders.

He ended up playing into Divaridis and got burned down to 5600, went to battle phase and I activated Magical Cylinders. Despite literally watching me set Magic Cylinder he proceeded to attack with Magnamhut and eat 5300 damage himself. Then he attacked with the Dark Grepher he special summoned by discarding Saronir into my set Lilybell (The only monster I drew for my opening hand) and took 300 damage.

There's a second story I got where I thought I was gonna have a normal (albeit annoying cause I bricked) game versus a Blue Eyes player, only to find out that he was running a Rage With Eyes of Blue OTK deck. It kinda sucked that I bricked, but the dude deserved to win for that awesome, unique OTK deck that I've never seen before.
I got a Turn 27 underdog story with Ghostrick vs Darklord that's basically got everything a story needs to have

A guy at my locals called me a "cancerous player" for playing Necroface and Soul Absorption. Yeah, I spent the $300 to play 3 Pot of Desires in my Gren Maju deck. Yeah, the plan was to stall with LP gain putting the cards back into my deck with Jar of Avarice and Burial from a Different Dimension until I could punch for big damage with Gren Maju. Yes, I took 10k burn damage attacking in to a set Magic Cylinder that I knew was there. 40k LP minus 10k damage doesn't lose me the game.

I don't have any silly stories because I play silly games enough they are normal. Like I took Gorz into ranked just now after enjoying the 2014 event.

It sure as hell involves ill intent but wasn't from me and the pettiness was kinda funny. Also might get some details wrong because it was ages ago.

I was playing Mayakashi + Soul Absorption tower + Soul Levy for the deckout missions (couldn't afford Runick yet) and even had that in my name, like deckout17/20 or smth. Was up against some Hero player and I failed to do it on my turn.

Momma didn't raise a quitter, so I just kept playing. They do the usual hero stuff under Soul Levy, which got me further and Mayakashi ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of them coming back from GY when monsters are destroyed, kept me alive through their turn. They were down to like 3 cards but still had a solid board, idk what any of their names are or what they do, but I dealt with the stuff and then they pull some anime protagonist move with some from grave fusion of some big chungus and if I remember right, the link 4 Mayakashi still dealt with it.

And then they obviously quit before it's their turn to draw again.

All of onomatopoeia's duels are both funny and low-key hype

Your story is fine, I remember trying that deck out at some point a few years ago myself. Mayakashis are always going to have a special place in my heart.
