What deck Surprised you? In a good way.
Inspired by the worst deck conversation, lets talk about the decks that made us pleasantly surprised after we got to know them.

I'll Start with Amazons. One of the few non-chaos decks I play around with. Its just a fun deck and the way everything just works is nice. Also the bosses and art are cool and do what you feel like they should. I have yet to think "This deck really needs X to be playable" because while it might not be as strong as I would like, its extremely playable.

Surprisingly prank-kids. Years ago when I was still smooth brain when it came to this game, I could not figure out how they worked, however after one of their cards came off the banlist some time ago I decided to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised at how good the deck was.

Red-Eyes Bystial, it feels a lot like Disaster Dragon from back then and essentially does what they tried to do with Felgrand especially with the Bystials providing the pay-off the Red-Eyes part is still missing.

Spright I was definitely a hater at first and to this day I still don't like gigantic locking both players, but after a royal blue and pulling a full spright deck I was convinced to try it by a punk build and I loved it.

Also technically branded also fits I hated it but after bystials came out it was kinda fun.

There are a few decks that would fit the mold for me.

Amazoness are pretty fun when they get the ball rolling, so i'll take them out for a ride a few times,

Live Twins, Traptrix and Z-Ark I found to be pretty fun to play after trying them out.

And even Pure Melodious after the new support dropped.
I mentioned it in CC's thread awhile ago, but Vanquished Soul. Don't get me wrong, cards look amazing and I loved their aesthetic, but I didn't think I'd enjoy the playstyle.

Then I played a few games and realized how brilliant a mid-range deck it is and have loved it ever since. Play it every event I can't play Plunder, basically, which has been most of them lately since they've been more "meta-adjacent" formats lately. It's basically just flexing on your opponent, like "Yo, look at my shiny cardboard. Merely possessing such a beautiful card in my hand allows me to do x!" It feels like a deck that was designed for the anime, but is actually good.

Flipping stuff just seemed like a fun time but everywhere I looked had peeps telling me it was garbage. From reddit to yt, everyone was dunking on how trash the deck was. Played it and have adored every moment with it - you haven't lived until you've Discordance'd several Grass chains

Ah yeah. Vanquished Soul is a very cool deck.

I could swear I answered this exact question a few weeks ago in a similar thread. I said Swordsoul then, and it still holds true.

Back when it released it was strong enough to be a tiered deck, which of course meant I had zero interest in it to begin with. It's gameplan always seemed too simple and easy to interrupt, even with Imperm not having been a thing yet. And I didn't care for the art, hulking warriors in plate armor doesn't appeal to me. Never understood the Wyrm connection.

Forget what got me to actually try them, probably sheer chance from pulling 90% of their essential cards while trying to pull for something else. But turns out I really enjoyed them once I gave them half a chance, and they became an infrequently-updated staple in my list of decks. It's just a shame they have a reputation for being Barrone De Fleur Turbo now.

Well War Rock is nothing but floodgates so the hate is expected.

Maybe Yusei's deck. It's not that easy to get the optimal board out after Speeder resolves if you don't follow any guides, so it's always a fun "will I get the order of summons right?" - game.

I'd like to build a Yusei.dek but it is pretty costly to do so.

Yeah, it def. has the usual anime tax, I only started after getting lucky with the Stardust pack and still missing a few URs like Tuning or the Cosmic Blazar.

''Nothing but floodgates'' Literally has one floodgate, what are you gwomping about?

can you share your decklist. this sounds interesting.
when i tried to build the deck i also immediately added 3x organism, 1x unending, rivalry, tcboo, gozen and 1x stone before even deciding on the monsters.

im not going to critize it. im just interested as the archtype looks so bad that i kinda want it to be good, and my own version was kind of lacking.
