Overall conclusion, event was fine but nothing special. I don't think it was the worst event we've had by far, but it wasn't far off from the "average" which is "bland and not really worth talking about"
Honestly, I only played because of the free gems otherwise would have skipped it entirely.
I won using decks that I liked, then I moved onto actual Xyz decks and even got some new URs for them only to face Labrynth and Stun at LV19, then changed to Vanquish Soul until I ultimately decided for Snake Eye Fire King and that is when I realized that making the grind for the Xyz Frame was not only unlikely due to time constrains since it is awarded to the top 100 players but I did not care enough because the event sucked but perhaps I had make it to Bronze...on an event that sucked.
The best decks in the Xyz event did not Xyz summon at all.
Similarly I do not care for any of the new decks I built.
Centur-Ion and Yubel are just so boring to play.
I simply do not enjoy any deck whose win condition is "Go First, Make Board then wait for the opponent to scoop".
I like breaking boards and actually playing the game, there is no a single good deck for that until Tenpai and nothing I want to play until Gold Pride Support and Mimighoul arrive. I feel I am in a good position to take a break and return later since Centur-ion gets more support later but I just don't feel like staying for Fiendsmith meta.
I miss Tearlament and its capability to break boards going second.
Right now, the game devolves into hand trap warfare and I just don't care for it .
Don't get me wrong the game IS getting better but I feel I have seen it all.
Saw the Xyz festival, had some Zoodiacs lying around and decided to go for it, crafting whatever cards I needed on the way. (Last time I played had Drident and Zeus to 1 with Barrage and Rat forbidden, imagine how long ago was that.)
Long story short, it seems that no matter how much time passes, no one ever reads Utopic Draco Future and tries to destroy it with Spells, and no one is really prepared for several instances of 6-material Zeus. Made it to... DLv17 before maintenance I think?
But anyway, it seems they never did really fix the problem with events in MD: They don't really give you enough incentives to play them (it's kinda too much effort to DLv20 for the amount of gems you get tbh), nor reward you for playing them as intended.
I do understand not everyone likes playing the same things, but if you're gonna let people play Labrynth/Eldlich/Stun/Burn/True Draco/whatever Deck that ignores the event's theme, at least give more rewards to players that actually play by the special rules.
But eh. At least MD is still nice to take a breather from regular YGO TCG. I'll have fun reading thru' all new solo modes later.
Also kind of annoying after some people get LV20 just still play try hard not letting other players get to LV20. Whats the point when everyone can get LV20 but then gate box rewards because someone plays a deck you can't get around. It isn't about getting gud either. Not everyone wants to play the same meta.
