Master Duel, by far.

Duel Links has been pay-to-win for a very, very long time. It's more or less impossible for a new player to get into without paying way out the ass.

There are other arguments for Master Duel, but I think that's probably the most relevant one.
Master Duel f2p ftw

The only real merit of duel links is if you want to play single player with anime decks against NPCs. You will still have to put up with the horrendous grind and monetization, but at least you can do so at your own pace there. For anything else, master duel is by far the superior option

Master Duel is boring as heck with 30+ minute duels (mostly during your opponent's turn).

MD is better objectively but Duel Links has its merits which can sway players. It really depends on what you want out of the games. The speed duel style of Duel Links might appeal to you more even though the app itself sucks and monetization is terrible.

I tried going back to DL around the time they got Magical Muskets (I wanted to play them in a lower power environment where they could maybe thrive).

I saw that they were almost entirely N/R rarity and contained within a single box that also had link staples (which were new at the time). I spent weeks grinding gems, dug through about 80% of the box without getting any of the N/R cards I needed, and never managed to complete the deck. Then at some point I had this realization of like, "What the ♥♥♥♥ am I even doing??"

DL is so much worse than any of us remember. I don't even know how I played it for so long. Desperation, maybe?

The game itself is really quite fun so with no other options its not a bad option to play casually. You can't rely on anything and just have to play with whatever you randomly pull.

Now we have MD though so unless you really don't like actual Yugioh you never have to go back to DL.

It was the best official simulator at the time. But now konami has started actually supporting the IP, so it's much harder to live with duel links. The solo content is the only thing it has going, and I guess rush duels too for now

That's the part that kills me. It really was fun once you actually had a functioning deck.

Until they started nerfing skills whenever they felt like it.

They killed my competitive decks more than 4 times just by nerfing different character skills.

I stopped bothering. Also Master Duel sucks so ye there goes yu gi oh.
