Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

View Stats:
Yeah this game is kind of cringe. Update.
Update: I did it, qualified to next round with Ultra Athlete + Tearlament.
My last two match ups were against Numeron taking the Maxx C challenge having blanking Numeron's first turn and the last one against Branded Fluffal a match that is an uphill battle at best for U.A.

I still stand for what I say, this event, not fun at all, I hope we can have N/R next. I am so done with YGO.

It is not tear, it is the fact we got a coin instead of a dice and you can lose 10 games in row coin dependent and the progression in the qualifiers makes me angry, get to one victory for the title and then lose and go back to DL 17 because of the coin.

And the ladder is particularly cancerous for these events.
The only consolation is that apparently I am not alone in this, the reviews for Master Duel sit on Mixed around the time Magic Arena released, I mean I am not switching games even though I do enjoy MTG on paper, unlike YGO which is prohibitively expensive, you can go to your local game store any Friday night and just play draft. I assisted to an event a while back for Brother's War and I got my cards signed by several youtubers and MTG celebrities.

Meanwhile, if you want to play YGO on paper I hope you like Traptrix because that is the only good beginners deck that sits in an affordable range and you still need 3 of them things.
>cuts to dpygo
3 of them thangs?
3 of them thangs.

Yeah I am upset, I am going to work out now so I can walk the anger out an then ask God for forgiveness for swearing for a full hour straight playing this trite.

This may just be a generalisation on my part, but I believe that many players who stick around would have reached, or will reach the same perspective of the game. At some point you just have to give in and accept the game in it's current state.

You can still try to have fun with the game, even if it does have balance and powercreep issues. Appreciate what you can, and brush off what you can't~
At least, that's how I get the most enjoyment from the game.

And while I don't think anything will change in the near future-
What do you think could be changed to fix the issues you're seeing in the game?

Well the ladder is pretty much like that : It is either you lose or someone else lose. TBH you will never know how much lost your opponent had to face, before he even win against you. There might be even player who write similar post while you are also one of the duelist beating him in a duel so he made that post.
Personally I'm glad with dlv19. Aything beyond that is for archivement hunter.

My coin flips are usually 50-55% to either side. Some days I win 3 in a raw and some days I lose it 3 times in a raw. But when you start losing 8-10 or more times then its no longer bad rng. Then its hackers that are using a coin hack to make sure he wins it everytime.

Its not so long time ago I saw a YTber got auto surrendered in battle phase and I got hit by coin flip hack myself a week ago in this tournement. Choosed to go first but got handed second round insteed.

Gonna be fun how many cheaters will get purged from the ladder once again. Last time someone who was playing Floo got removed from the ladder cause he used a hack so opponent got 0 point for winning the game againts him.

Here are my personal gripes:

First, the lack of alternative formats. Many people were really hyped up for Team Battles, but they ended up not being what people actually wanted: Tag-Team duels (Whether shared field or individual fields). It's a real shame since the code from observers could probably be reused to implement the shared field variant rather easily.

Second, the UI in Master Duel leaves a lot to be desired: scrubbing through the Graveyard or Banish Zone is painfully slow when there are a lot of cards because they're a single column/row, selecting multiple cards for effects can be incredibly inconstant (Sometimes you select them all at once while other times you select them one at a time), and most lingering effects aren't displayed anywhere.

Third, Master Duel is absolutely miserable to new players at this point. Because of how Selection Packs work, older players have a far greater advantage at acquiring cards. There are plenty of cards in Selection Packs that realistically should have just been added to existing or new Secret Packs like what they did with the Mathmech and Sky Striker support. Additionally, ranked, even at the lower end, is slowly becoming more and more inaccessible to new players due to power creep.

Here is the new player experience:
1) Do Solo Mode
2) Probably Get Through Bronze
3) Get Destroyed in Silver
4) Probably Quit

Here is what I personally would like to see. First, remove the restrictions on where non-event missions can be completed. There is no good reason for this restriction other than to force everyone onto ranked. Considering many people don't bother to even leave Silver/Gold, all it is doing is turning these Ranks into de facto Casual Mode. Second, for Casual Mode, needs a better algorithm for selecting opponents. Often, I see myself either playing against either new players, who end up getting crushed, or Tier 0/1 decks, where I feel I just might as well play ranked instead. Lastly, Selection Packs should either reappear on rotation quite often or just be left there permanently.

As just one final minor point: i think we can all agree that secret packs disappearing after a day is needlessly dumb.

Gating half the decks behind legacy tickets or MD packs insteed of a secret pack is just one of the reasons this game is bad. People that joined now have no way to craft older packs like Runic, Dinomorphia or Welcome Lab without spending crafting point and that is already the worst way to build a deck as a F2P player. And yea closing secret packs after 24 hours is just dumb. But again that is just another gatcha thing they added to force people to spend money to get the rest. Everything you mention is just gatcha gameplay that was added to suck as much money out of people and holding people hostage in ranked. Game was never build to make more easy for its players to earn gems or get new packs. If you want gems then you forced to play ranked and casuel mode should just be renamed to unranked cause thats what it is.

Its just filled with meta players praticing his meta deck againts new players that still got starter decks.

I think you could easy remove duel rooms and casual mode and most people would not noties it was gone cause not many use it. Only good thing about this game is it dont got ingame chat cause that would make it 100x more toxic than now.

This game was trash for the longest time with the fanbase being the trashiest. Old news. Not even AI can function without crashing while playing this game. Drunken 52 card pickup is more enjoyable than modern Yugioh.

Why exactly do you think dice are better than a coin? Its a 50/50 either way?

It's the same as people coming here every few months and saying it should be RPS instead of coin flip. It's all random and means nothing. Guy just banged his head against a brick wall for ages instead of changing his deck around so it could go second better.

I was in a similar spot for the event. I honestly didn't expect to see much Tears until after rank 15. But even this late into it as soon as I hit rank 13 all I got was tears two out of every three games. Made getting to 15 really annoying, since I wasn't prepared to change my deck. I'm not going to push for 16, either. But that's my choice. Not the fault of the game, nor other players.

Bro you couldn't make it pass 16 and you are lecturing... :td_Skull:
Got to 18 with U.A. Tear.
The problem is rank 19 and 20 which demand you to open perfect. Which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I switched to Soul Sword and it is a sweat fest because Soul Sword is the least likely deck to brick only second to Prank Kids Adventure pre-banlist.
Gauche May 27, 2023 @ 11:26am
Got to 18 with Amazons but I attribute that solely to running hand traps.
My only Tear wins have been when I don't let them play.
Astrallight May 27, 2023 @ 11:39am
Stage 2 will pretty much be decided on who can stay awake the longest and grind for 72 hours without sleep cause that is what most of top 100 will be. Full of players that dont sleep, dont need to work and stays online for as much as possible to grind for top ranks.

Us normal people will get the gems and stay the hell away from stage 2.
Papa Smurf May 27, 2023 @ 11:56am
Play a deck that can go second instead of relying on the coinflip to win. No,you can't just play your favourite deck and hope to do well, that isn't how competitive games work.

I would not removed duel rooms. They are actually used quite often for tournaments and between friends. What could be removed with no one actually caring is Team Battles. No one actually uses that mode because it's basically just a bad version of casual. I do agree though, Casual is basically just Unranked; though, there is no real reason to rename it.

HA HA HA HA HA HA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I MADE IT LADS
ULTRA ATHLETE QUALIFIED

Okay so turns out I just needed to trust the heart of the cards and not play sweat like tear pure or Soulsword, just be true to Ultra Athlete + Tearlament.

This deck is insane.
