I wouldnt recommend it now, the meta has just become too ridiculous and you can barely play anything anyway, people can play their entire deck and still have handtraps to not let you play at all unless your deck has enough cards to start your combo and your combo has to guarantee you multiple strong monsters with effects, at least 90% of the cards are pretty much useless against a top tier deck
Yugioh just has the problem that you have no limit in what you can do in a single turn, you can pretty much play your entire deck and there is little the opponent can do against it
I stopped playing this game and started playing legends of runeterra, which i enjoy a lot.
It is basically league of legends heartstone, where you get mana per round and you can only use so many cards per turn, allowing for better back and forth in game where both players get to play, instead of watching one guy play their deck for 20 minutes and then surrender anyway because his board is too stupid
Whats also nice is that legends of runeterra is a online card game, meaning that too op cards can still be nerfed after they released, or weak cards get buffed so they are still viable years later, big plus for me
I personally haven't spent money because I like having something to strive for-
Cards to create, mechanics to try out. Making weird or inconsistent things work.
And I dislike stuff like following the same pattern each duel to increase my win rate.
So if I were to spend money to get the best cards, and focus solely on winning, I would become bored with the game, and burn out from it.
I guess if someone would rather avoid interactive gameplay, or aim to have the highest win-rate possible, it might be in their interest to continually purchase the strongest cards available and stick to those decks.
My only reason for not spending money is gem packs are too overpriced compared to what you get. What you can get after spending 70€ you can get after playing this game for free for one month. Even faster if an event is active. And then you can end up getting scammed when you pull your packs multiple times if you are unlucky and it will force you to spend even more money to get the rest.
Approximately this amount will not allow me to be too disappointed if the developers stop supporting their creation and close the servers (typically after the announcement of a new game).
by doing so you can reach the same heights a p2w can reach and even better because you will know the game better.
Depends.
I already spent money on the IRL game and up to $1,000 USD overtime which is nothing compared to how much it cost overtime to play competitive and I feel that after Master Duel I have got every penny out of my time playing YGO, I even got 1st Edition Necrovalley cards that apparently are worth more now.
Now I have stated that Konami needs to put a starter bundle on steam that includes Gems PLUS something additional, like an exclusive mate and duel field. Paying for just gems always feels wrong, I always like it better when the in-game currency includes something exclusive, like even paying for v-bucks is wrong (They had a crossover with Doom Eternal, I am not made out of stone).
That has yet to happen.
(even still, managed to construct some pretty solid decks; and get enough gems to get that 3000 Gem Anniversary bundle)
