If I had a suggest a game for you it would be Duel Links:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/601510/YuGiOh_Duel_Links/
It is basically like Master Duels but you play as a character from Yugioh you start of as Yugi or Kaiba and can unlock more characters just by playing. My only warning is that this game is filled with micro-transactions and building a deck with money can cost A LOT. But the PvP has a lot of anime match ups so that is a positive also a lot of anime decks are boosted by things called "skills" they are out of duel effects that encourage you to build pure decks and not just splash in a lot of generic goodstuff.
My second choice would be Legacy of the Duelist:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/480650/YuGiOh_Legacy_of_the_Duelist/
Basically a "greatest hits" of Yugioh letting you replay iconic duels from each series as the characters using the iconic decks the piloted however the big negative to this game is it is pretty much exclusively single player and the AI duelists are really easy to cheese or break with custom decks and some anime matchups are pretty much unwinnable unless you top deck a good starting hand.
The last thing I could suggest is maybe try and find a Master Duels casual discord or "anime roleplaying" server where people only use anime themed decks or weaker more fun and casual decks but each one of those servers have their own rules and own power levels so it is up to you to go and "shop around" for a server to join.
However, I still suggest giving the game a try.
Even if you will sometimes get matched with a meta deck that leaves you unable to play at all, you can still have fun building our own unique, gimmicky, or themed decks, and use them against people in the Gold rank, where meta decks are less common.
And if you see Verte, cuss the mofo out because he deserves it. (that card is AIDS)
There isn't just ranked and only ranked.
I play blue eyes, gods, dark magician deck at first. Never really try to climb any match.
There are many solo mode to let you try & learn others deck and archtype.
Not really need to spend a lot of time to clear daily.
Normally i clear it once 3 days.
BTW if you like dark magician, you can purchase 3x structure dark magician deck only cost 1500 gem and it is quite powerful.
But if you really care to WIN. You need to learn some modern handtrap and usual combo.
Below is the card can almost fit in any deck.
Call by grave x2
Ash of Blossom x3

Oddly, I would say the next best thing is to not get into this game at all. Once you're in, you never really seem to quit on a permanent basis.
