Branded Fusion was asking for it since release. It's a fuse from the deck, and one that doesn't have a downside requiring Verte to bypass. Branded is fine without Fusion, just means we revert to Frightfur Engines or lean on Cartisia more than we already do.

The real question is what hitting it to 1 instead of outright banning it is even supposed to do. Even if it wasn't one of the most easily searchable normal spells in the game right now, Verte's still legal and lets any deck with two monsters use it anyway if they want. The hit does nothing at all, and is therefore dumb.

The deck is still top tier and overwhelmingly strong for how simple it is, not to mention it's getting its 5th? wave of support in MD within the next few months. You got another copy of opening and the deck has endless ways to recycle even one copy of fusion so it's not like this is even a devastating hit

It doesn't really make sense in the OCG and in MD. What this does is further incentivizes deck building to not use it or not depend on it. And higher level duelists have been doing that anyway because of Ash.

What people don't realize is that the hit to Branded Fusion actually hurts any lower level decks that uses its core package. Which means, Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes and Dark Magician decks are also hurt by it.

I was thinking if Cartesia would've been the more appropriate hit myself. I don't know the Deathtoy engine beyond Patchwork, how good is it?

The main advantage it has is deck thinning and making Guardian Chimera easier to go into, as well as actually have it's protection live. But I personally don't like it, mainly because Frightfur Patchwork can become a brick if they mill out your Sabers. Plus the whole thing remains vulnerable to Ash and dies to Droll. I'd rather just do the Hex-sealed fusion or King of the Swamp play.

I don't think it does, honestly. Branded did fine before the fusion spell came out, though back then we had terraforming to search the Theater. Aluber can still search it for us, even if it's not great for having to stay on the field. Normal poly isn't terrible, Fallen pretends to be a Super Poly whenever you actually draw him, plus Cartesia. Branded works fine without Fusion, it's just a nice thing to have. Half the time it ends up being ash-bait anyway, so if you think about it we're already playing a Fusion-less Branded.

As much as I hate to see BF go to 1 this is true. It's mostly just a consistency issue. The second BF isn't usually brought up if the first one is allowed to trigger, only if it gets ash'd does that second one come in to play, but often if you get Ash'd in high tier play you will most likely lose before you get a chance to use a second one anyway. I will just use Kitt or Retribution to try and reclaim the expended one, although with Kash here I have to pray they don't banish it.

Tf is a dishonest deck? It's pretty straightforward. Fusion big dragon go brrrrrr. The only deck that I could describe as dishonest is something like Floo with all it's "Normal" Summons.
