I cant seem to find the answer after searching. Do I need to demote to gold (I'm plat 4 now) to get more gem when rank reset happen or will I get all the lower rank rewards automatically

you can't go to gold from plat until the end of the month at reset, at which time you'll be put at x 5 of whatever division is below so you'd go to gold 5

and you'd only get the gems from gold 5 > where ever you go up to next month, you can't really go back and get the lower gems unless you want to purposely take months to derank that low

You can't demote past rank 5 of any tier. What you need to do is reach rank 1 of plat before season end. Everyone in plat goes down to rank 5 of gold no matter what.
