No gem sale or anniversary of any sort
So konami, not gonna push you on this... but member when you used to do a gem sale every 1-2 months? member? Member when you used to give out 1k gems for whatever reason you could make up, be it downloads, months from launch, whatever... member those times?
Member when you had 260k players on launch according to steam charts, and just 14k playing ''15 min ago''.... member those times konami?
I'm not even being a ♥♥♥♥ rn, I think duel links has more players than md at the time being, because of how incompetent the team running this game is.

Good bait troll.

DL ~2900
MD ~13400

Since both versions are available on multiple platforms and MD can be played on more platforms ... I would say MD wins? ^^

Giving out more gems then necessary is quite normal for any form of f2p game.
Losing 90% of the gamer base over time is also quite normal for games like this or DL and as long as a game has a steady income and player base it is a success.
So go back to DL since you like how "competent" the DL team is (not saying that either of the teams are competent or incompetent, just saying that your bias is quite strong).

while more free gems and more gem deals with be cool (even if they are a huge waste of money and still overpriced af even on sale), you never take a games launch number as a stable indication of how many people will stick to the game, yugioh is a really hard game to get into and get good at, alot of people probably downloaded it to check it out and figured out its not what they like and dipped

1st sale lasted Jan 19 - Mar 31
2nd sale lasted May 9 - June 10
3rd sale lasted July 11 - Aug 31

you forget urself good sir. I was talking about total players, and dl has way more players on phone than on steam, while md has close to none on phone

*Sigh*
Let's see:
DL has 50M+ downloads in the play store (yeah, I'm a filthy android user) since its launch in 2016.
Let's double that for the apple store.

100M+ downloads, I mean it's a decent number for a moble game from a big company.

It prob got a surge of new players because of the link update, but it still only has around 2-3 reviews per day (at best 4 or at the worst, none) which is kinda laughable if you compare that to the number of downloads.

Since I already know that DL has a major bot problem (which they somewhat gave up before links came out and still aren't that great with fixing it), I can prob say that at least around half of the downloads are from bot accounts.

Still an impressive number.

Good, let's look on the reviews.

While MD doesn't have that many reviews on mobile (since that is the worst port afaik) it still has more reviews per day on steam then the reviews from DL for Steam and MD together and you can't say that not many played that version, around 5M have downloaded the game and at least tried it (https://vginsights.com/game/601510).

Now you compare that to MD, which isn't even a year old and has around 1.4m unique downloads on steam and since MD is basically on every platform and also a slower version if you compare it with DL ... kinda impressive how many players are still playing that game every day.

TLDR:
MD seems to have more active users and only slightly loses now in the trends because of links.

And even aside from the fact that this game has an *especially* large amount of people checking it out who only know 2004 playground yugioh and dipped out when they saw how much work it would take to catch up...most games have their highest ever player count on launch.

Unless you are no man's sky or CS:GO or something, you will have the highest amount of people checking it out during the initial launch hype, playing through all the new stuff, and then leave when they've had their fill or decided they don't like it. Popular best-selling games only have a small fraction of the players they had during their launch week as a general rule in the industry. The only way this doesn't happen is if the game goes above and beyond expanding way beyond its initial means as it develops. MD hardly has the capacity or a reason to do that

I haven't played Duel links for a long time, but the last time I checked updates, it entered the era of tier 0 deck, I doubt it's fun to play right now, because all the old decks don't work anymore.

I'm mentally unprepared to sell my kidney for Cynet Mining to start playing again, especially when in Master duel you can get an entire Salamagreat deck for 1500 gems

You might spent 4.000 gems and not be able to craft 2 UR cards.
This is how this game works.
Also a single deck need around 700 UR points.
Gems are kinda easy to earn, but if you get only garbage SR cards, you can't build sh1t.
The only good way to get UR cards is via the Mission Pass.

What deck needs 700 UR points. Unless that was just an exaggeration. If so don't mind the comment.

60 card makes sense but how does Live Twin cost 900?

Is it the hand traps?
