Running out of Time on Oponents turn
Latetly I've been losing a couple of ranked duels not because my oponent beat me but because I run out of time. I'm not the best of players but I know my deck and combos, I don't play slow but my combos are usually long and have lots of chains (I'm playing Marincess btw), a lot of the time my oponent just quits after 2 minutes o me link summoning my 10th monster on the first turn but I don't have any other choice, that's just how the combos are. So when the duel doesn't end on first turn my oponent plays then it's my turn again and I have usually about 90-130 seconds to combo again to counter all the other guy throwed at me, the thing is it's not enough time, and It's frustrating being 2 or three plays from winning and losing because the timer run out.

Also the timer resets on your next turn, so during your oponents turn any counter effect you wanna activate uses what little time is left, I had a duel where I cleaned my oponents field, attacked, left him ready to die in my next turn but ended with exactly 1 second left, then he plays, activates something and the games asks me, you wanna counter it?, oh sorry your times up you LOSE. Like what the hell, how can i lose on my oponents turn because of time, I mean, if my oponent plays and I can counter I have the right to counter, but with this timer logic I would have to mash cancel button so I dont die from timeout and my oponent gets free pass, I cannot counter him or I die.

Konami pls fix

Or you can just learn to git gud since Marincess players don't seem to have an issue with the timer so it's just you

Pls don't be toxic about this, it's a problem with a videogame mechanic implementation not an issue with bieng a good player or not.

It's a problem with a video game mechanic which is why other players don't have a problem but only you. If you were playing Flower Cardians then you would have actual ground to stand on but you're not so it's clearly just you and not the game's fault you're running out of time

So you aknowledge there is a timer problem, just depends on the deck and player, thank you, it would be nice if they fix it.

It would be nice if you git gud but that's more of wishful thinking and basic expectations of people

As a Marincess player myself, I can say that the timer is annoying after the update, but it's not a huge issue. If you're often running out of time, that's on you, not on the deck.

You just need to properly learn the deck and combos.

Here's a useful guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wLRSYa9gKo

I know the combos I play the deck well enough, I just like playing at my own pace, what do I have to get better at, playing faster?, what for, in real life duels can go over an hour long, that doesn't mean players arent good. Also why are you all being so aggresive, Ok you play fast, doesn't mean everyone wants to, just want to enjoy the game.
In IRL events, you gotta finish a Bo3 in 40 minutes, so there is no "duels can go over an hour", what you do with friends isn't representative of how stuff actually works.

What you're describing doing, aka "playing at your own pace" looks to me a lot like slow play, meaning you would most likely get penalties at any IRL events.

You need to play at a reasonable pace, but if you're often running out of time with Marincess, you're not playing at a reasonable pace, that's reality and you do need to pick up the pace a little.

That's the reason why then. This is an official game. I think the timer should go back to 8 minutes so players can have enough time to read and play.

But you think you should have enough time to just sit there doing nothing while also playing. Which is incorrect. IRL Yugioh isn't like an official sim. The rules of the game aren't automatically played for you, on top of the fact that IRL you are interacting with another person. Not just a name.

Even had we been playing Yugioh together IRL i would not want to see you just sitting there not thinking and not playing.

Why is everyone assuming I slow play, I play normal, I almost never read other cards and rarely pause in my combos.

40 minutes is actually longer than i thought they got in a tournament or does the timer not pause even between rounds for side decking?

If you aren't reading any other cards and aren't pausing at all then 5 minutes is plenty time to do a full combo with timer to spare.

It doesn't afaik. Side decking is also included in that timer.

Of course, first turn, but the next turn i dont have 5 minutes, and sometimes I have to redo the first turn combo and make it larger, each turn we have less time.

Because your "normal" is "slow" by most people's standards.

We play the same deck, I often read cards, stop and think plays, and somehow still have time to spare, yet you who apparently doesn't stop during combos, doesn't read cards, don't have enough time?

That's pretty much slow play.

Also your claim about IRL duels lasting over an hour, that doesn't happen unless you play with friends in an environment where time doesn't matter.
