Although, in this case in particular, I wouldn't say that you have to stick to a cookie cutter meta deck to reliably beat Branded.
And it seems like there are quite a bit less Branded players as opposed to when it first came out. So maybe you'll start to have more fun over time. :D
Personally, I have one account that I keep in Gold when I don't want to play with/against meta decks all the time. That's helped me learn about a wider variety of cards, combos, and gameplay strategies/mechanics.
But most of all, it's been more fun~ And the goal of every game should be fun~
Btw, despite me playing it rn (i do quite like its playstyle, not totally, but I still wish the archetypes I actually like much more were much more playable) (even if I kinda rarely play, I still didn't finish the duel pass) I do understand the pain of seeing opponents using always the same deck.
Swordsoul plague was exactly what had me starting to surrendere whenever I see a swordsoul card
As someone who plays Branded competitively in the TCG, you are incorrect, tear IS strong, but it is 100% beatable with Branded/Despia.
Now to the OP, it's a META deck, what did you expect honestly?
Like bruh...you cereal right now?
I can see the confusion tho, didn't think Marincess had the extra deck slots for it.
Assuming they do nothing to account for them whatsoever (or the token "semi-limits irrelevant card" trick) I'd put money on Tears being the first truly tier 0 experience that Master Duel suffers from.
Not only will it negate Branded Fusion (or any spell activation for that matter), it will prevent the opponent from using any Branded Fusion for the rest of the duel.
Just make sure to also have something for Branded Lost. (as that's a hard-counter)
Also, the Floowandereeze archetype can do some good work against them, esp once Empen's out. (maybe pack a Grave of the Super Ancient Organism and/or Final Attack Orders as well to ensure your opponent can't dodge Empen's effect by summoning their fusion monsters in defense mode; just in case Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds doesn't work out) If you're clever, you can even chain-block with the Lv 1 Floowandereeze monsters' migration effects to prevent your opponent from Ashing your summoned one's search effect. XD
