Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh. Population: Everyone is playing Branded Fusion.
I was just trying to have a simple night a playing some Yu-Gi-Oh. I'm not really the most competitive of players, but I don't mind playing a little ranked. That being said, I just played 6 games in a row where I fought identical decks, Branded+Despia. Even in the rare case they have something else, they are still playing Branded Fusion. it makes total sense why. Branded Fusion can generate a pretty decent monster with effectively one card and, with the right cards, even generates advantage.

It's not that the deck isn't beatable. In fact, it has some pretty noticeable weaknesses. I'm just simply tired of fighting the same thing over and over and over again. It honestly feels like Numeron 2.0.

Free win over fighting stun decks

I feel your pain. Variety is the spice of life, and MD lacks it. Having to choose between creativity/fun and making use of combos, or following the meta to win is a lame ultimatum.

Although, in this case in particular, I wouldn't say that you have to stick to a cookie cutter meta deck to reliably beat Branded.
And it seems like there are quite a bit less Branded players as opposed to when it first came out. So maybe you'll start to have more fun over time. :D

Personally, I have one account that I keep in Gold when I don't want to play with/against meta decks all the time. That's helped me learn about a wider variety of cards, combos, and gameplay strategies/mechanics.
But most of all, it's been more fun~ And the goal of every game should be fun~

Branded will be dead when Tearlaments get into MD

I really haven't been playing a Meta Deck just because of Branded. I've been having fun messing around with all types of silly decks. It's just doesn't feel fun to effectively see the same opponent over and over. For the record, I saw quite a few Branded players in Upper Gold as well.

Honestly I still didn't face one, maybe it's because I'm gold.

Btw, despite me playing it rn (i do quite like its playstyle, not totally, but I still wish the archetypes I actually like much more were much more playable) (even if I kinda rarely play, I still didn't finish the duel pass) I do understand the pain of seeing opponents using always the same deck.

Swordsoul plague was exactly what had me starting to surrendere whenever I see a swordsoul card

As someone who plays Branded competitively in the TCG, you are incorrect, tear IS strong, but it is 100% beatable with Branded/Despia.

Now to the OP, it's a META deck, what did you expect honestly?
Not playing Branded Fusion

I wouldn't mind Branded so much if it wasn't splashed in literally every freaking deck. I even saw a Marincess run it once, which I didn't even think was possible.

Like bruh...you cereal right now?

With the way the fusion spell and Tragedy work it can literally be put in everything.

I can see the confusion tho, didn't think Marincess had the extra deck slots for it.

There's a difference between the deck being dead and being unable to beat Tear.

When I mean ‘dead’, I mean Tearlament will be the new META deck with Branded being a small engine

Man if people though they hated Swordsouls...when Tears drop in Master Duel things are going to get crazy.

Assuming they do nothing to account for them whatsoever (or the token "semi-limits irrelevant card" trick) I'd put money on Tears being the first truly tier 0 experience that Master Duel suffers from.

I doubt they'd add Tear until Konami release even more powercreep

Considering that Tears just kind of absorbed new stuff from the most recently released pack and continued on like not much happened over in the OCG it would take one HELL of a powercreep increase to dethrone them without F/L intervention at this point.

Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell.

Not only will it negate Branded Fusion (or any spell activation for that matter), it will prevent the opponent from using any Branded Fusion for the rest of the duel.

Just make sure to also have something for Branded Lost. (as that's a hard-counter)

Also, the Floowandereeze archetype can do some good work against them, esp once Empen's out. (maybe pack a Grave of the Super Ancient Organism and/or Final Attack Orders as well to ensure your opponent can't dodge Empen's effect by summoning their fusion monsters in defense mode; just in case Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds doesn't work out) If you're clever, you can even chain-block with the Lv 1 Floowandereeze monsters' migration effects to prevent your opponent from Ashing your summoned one's search effect. XD
