Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

deck drain wins should not be a thing
why does this count as an automatic loss even when you have perfectly playable cards in your hand? if i have a playable monster card there is no reason to make the duel end just because i couldn't draw more cards that i didn't need. and yes someone used inferno tempest successfully on me but this still feels like a design flaw

pretty sure unable to draw cards is a pretty standard thing across most if not all card games hearthstone had a unique spin on iirc where you took increasing damage instead of losing
Because its in the game rules, as simple as that.

"The player whose turn it is (the “turn player”)
draws 1 card from the top of their Deck. A player with no cards left in
their Deck and unable to draw loses the Duel."

Draw phase starts when you draw, so if you can't do that you can't enter that phase nor the next ones.

It's a very gimmicky deck that requires that mere fulfilment of taking 3000 damage to trigger the spell. Getting Inferno tempest to trigger isn't the easiest thing, but the payoff in a lot of decks that use it (specifically necroface gren maju with eater of worlds, the most common one I can think of) is a spectacular deck out defeat.

It won't happen to you too often, but it has been a victory condition within the game since it's initial conception, it's a sort of hard embedded time limit from back in the day where some duels could go well over the length of the modern system.

There have been far worse ways to lose in this game though. Ever hear of Yata-Garasu lockdown? If you got locked into it, you'd be slowly pecked to death. 200 damage every turn. And there's nothing you can do about it.
You're going to hate Ishizu's earth fairies.

interesting. it was indeed also using necroface cards but im not sure if they came from his hand or deck. is the physical card game also similar on the part that you can't know what kind of stuff your opponent is going to play with? i see a lot of friend players be open about the stuff they have in their deck so not sure what the standard here really is
No offense, but if some rando manages to pull off Inferno Tempest, of all cards, then I don't know what to tell you.
I had a recent game where someone used Inferno Tempest on me, as well as three Necrofaces... they ended up decking themselves, and surrendered instead of letting me win by the deck-out.

bad draw luck. even with over 10 hand traps in a 40 card deck you can still manage to not draw any of them and even worse draw the support spells/traps instead of monster cards

And you want to know the funny part? Yata's ATK is so low that you need some other source of damage or you'll deck out before it can kill the opponent, and it takes your normal summon every turn unless you use Shinobirds.

The World is funnier because it works going first and is at least polite enough to kill in 2-3 turns... none of which will ever be yours because ZA WARUDO (and they got the same guy to voice him so that's not my joke).

They're probably testing the deck and trying to smooth the edges, because I've fought them twice. God speed, self miller.

I fought a Danger! user and he was about to kill me with access code talker and Bigfoot but when he summoned Bigfoot it made him draw and he had no deck so he lost. Very funny.
