Update: Changes to Master Duel's duel time
Effective Date: October 11th:

- Time Limit at the start of a Duel to be 300 seconds
- Time Limit at the start of your turn - 90 seconds
- Time Limit will not exceed 300 seconds even if it's added

--------------------------

Effective Date: November or December 2022

After the October change:

- Time limit at the start of your turn - 60 seconds
- Time Limit at the start of a opponent's to be 30 seconds
- Time Limit will not exceed 300 seconds even if it's added

--------------------------

So, looks like 300 seconds will be the max and the norm. With 90 seconds for the start of one's turn and added at the end of each turn? I presume 30 seconds for the opponent is when they activate something during your turn? A little confusing on the wording.

Regardless, looks like this is where we are heading.

Hey that's one way to deal with hour long combo decks.

I don't like the change. Even if it doesn't affect me it's still lame.

What's the point of shortening the timer if the time doesn't tick down while the cards are actually being played?

Unless I'm misinterpreting things, this will punish people who read cards in the middle of the match, but people who take 20 minute long turns with engines or cycles will see no difference.

I never understood why it had to be that high to begin with. Time freezes in all parts of the menu animations. You basically get 5 minutes to read/respond to your opponent's cards, and click through any selections your combos may include. Even 300 is perfectly fine even when I have to take time to think about the opponent's board state

The timer change isn't meant to punish people who do long combos you nut. Combos are literally part of the game. How ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane would you have to be to think they'd change the timer to punish people playing the game.

The only thing the time change punishes are timer stalls, They tested a lower timer in the competitive event. Guess they liked the results and kept it. Cause like they say in the message "It's to improve the pacing". Really it just punishes timer stall idiots.

Which will negatively impact how new players and people who are taking there time to think, play. I didn't want it changed cause i don't think timer stalling should've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the actual people playing the game. But those whiners did in the end.

Realistically. how often do people stall with the timer though?

If they wanted to improve the pacing of the game, doing something to stop hour long turns would be a good starting point.

I've only encountered it once myself but it does happen since those individuals exist. We may not see it all the time. But an upset Yugiboomer seeing new cards being played causes them to go "No, i don't wanna". Visiting Reddit might be a mistake sometimes but when i did yesterday a comment on a post was literally saying "Oh yeah just timer stall then play a card near the 30 second mark and hope they went afk so you can get the ez win"

No there shouldn't be something to ♥♥♥♥ up long combos. Hell i'd rather decks be long combos than Swordsoul or Sky Strikers control. I don't play long combos but there's nothing wrong with them. Have some patience.

I like this change, the extra stress in the Duelist Cup (that was the name?) was quite nice to have, and this is not a sarcasm by the way.

i just wish i could turn off the annoying timer ticking its not super common i encounter it only in pretty intense back and forth games but its so distracting when im trying to do my plays in time

This just hurts the fools who netdeck heavy combo decks and have to constantly figure out how to play their own deck mid-duel, taking forever to perform combos that should only take a dozen seconds per-step tops. I run a combo-heavy deck and I WELCOME this change, because I actually KNOW my deck in and out, having designed and tuned it myself, and don't need stupid amounts of time to pull off my long combos.

Good change, Konami. For once.

Flower Cardians just sweating in the corner everytime they see the time limit
They shouldn't have lowered it at all and instead done what sims like omega do and make it go down faster when you don't make a move after a certain amount of time.

You either don't know what "dozen" means or you don't know how a combo heavy deck actually looks like.
