Master Duel Tier List

So, was watching vids about the game at work, and well, saw a few tier list vids, and decided to share a little here, see what most people think.

Tier 1: Synchro Pile, Swordsoul, Drytron, Tri-Zoo, Virtual World

Tier 2: Despia, Shaddoll, Adamancipator, Sky Striker, Code Talker, @Ignisters, Prank-Kids, Phantom Knights, Dragon Link, Bird-Up, Eldlich,

Tier 3: Dinosaur, Cyber Dragon, Fluffals, Pendulum, Unchained, Zoodiac, Numeron, Kaiju Luna, Dragonmaid, Traptrix, HERO, Burning Abyss, Spyral

Underdogs/Rogue: Earth Machine, Madolche, Altergeist, Orcust, Salamangreat, Thunder Dragon, Zombie World, Synchron, True Draco, Utopia

LTNSK*: Blue-Eyes, Dark Magician, Flavored Blue-Eyes**, P.U.N.K.

This list is pretty much a big cross reference between a few videos, as tier 1 and tier 2 do change a bunch depending on video, I'll put decks either in their only shown tier (if said deck appears in only 1 video) or in an average spot. A lot of the decks in tier 2 were put in tier 1 by some players, or tier 3 by others, for example, Cali placed Phantom Knights and Dragon Link in tier 3 due Swordsoul being so popular and loving to run Protos, and shotgunning it's effect on Dark, while Mkohl40 had them at tier 1 due to their power and consistency, hence why I placed them tier 2 as an average spot. Same applies to tier 3, opinions on those decks ranged all the way from tier 2 to rogue, so where applicable, I placed them in tier 3.

That means that a good bunch of tier 2 decks could very well be in tier 1, while a bunch of tier 3 decks can be in tier 2, but that also applies the other way around, so don't be like "oh, there's only 5 decks in tier 1", it's actually at least 5 decks in tier 1.

So do take the list with a grain of salt, as there aren't many videos out yet from after the Swordsoul release.

Well, that's the list, what's your opinions, and since a good bunch of decks didn't got mentioned, where would you put stuff that's not named?

They also explained why they are on each tier list and even have comparison on tournament of decks.

Kinda hard for the list to be outdated since it's only based on videos made after the release of Swordsoul, and that's what, 9 days ago?

Also, forgive me if I'll be a little skeptic, but that tier list from MDM doesn't really translate to how people who don't play in those tournaments play the game.

Their tournaments allow for the use of side decks, especially the most competitive ones, and they wrote on the site that the more competitive the tournament the more points a deck gets for topping, so side deck usage already scrambled everything. I mean, if they base their points based on topping events, but their events have rules that we don't have in ranked, then obviously things will change.

In a bo1 you can have decks that only work in that format and would never see play in a bo3.

Looking into it, it seems like there are a handful of swordsoul decks running various packages, but calling it synchro pile makes me think of those synchro spam decks that deck out through maxx c rather than swordsoul. I haven't played against these variants myself and I don't really know how well it stacks up against regular swordsoul tenyi but yeah I can sort of see why its tier 1 now.

Tier lists in general are a bit of a scam outside of just getting a casual, loose sense of what is being played. None can really be considered wrong.

Some like masterduelmeta try to use some kind of quantitative data collection, which while they can slightly imply objectivity are still deserved of scrutiny by their methodology.

On the note of masterduelmeta, as I understand the site/tierlist is run through personally hosted paid tournaments showing a very, very curated snapshot of a given metagame. Master Duel ranked is a lot more diverse than their tier list implies. Without Konami's data, though, there isn't a lot to go on. It's certainly not the worst resource, but... I dunno, seeing a lot of very strong decks labeled tier 3 just feels off to me.

Also, Adamancipator is considered untiered on that list now. Dunno if I would buy that one.

It's the first pile deck I made XD so it's still a wee bit shaky and I'm still messing around with ratios.

If you stop the Halq or Auroradon, I'm pretty dead in the water rn, but if you don't, I'm gonna set a big board.

It doesn't brick too much, which is a bloody miracle since it's me we're talking about, so there's that.

And hey, doesn't it fit the "ideal casual deck" idea? A deck that's not forced into archetypes, just a bunch of put together cards that work decently together.

Uh... It's actually a lot better than in the TCG with harp being banned. Also Harp is actually to 2 now in the current OCG banlist.

Here is what is written on one meta site about the Drytron deck (considered a rogue deck):

"Drytron is a deck that sits on the verge of being a meta deck thanks to its strong ability to repeatedly negate and stop your opponent’s plays using cards like Herald of Ultimateness. But it can be inconsistent if you don’t draw the correct cards in your opening hand. It's also one of the more expensive decks to currently build, making them less accessible than other, more mainstream decks".

I understand that personal experience can vary greatly.
But Drytron can and will brick, try it yourself and you will see when you get some ritual monsters, Eva and Ash in your starting hand.
And the second Eva only makes this deck bricker, look how many lists already use only 1 Eva.
You need 2 Drytron monsters to get the combo.

Tier lists are subjective, especially in a best of one format. I mean, Synchro Pile tier 1? Lol. YugiTubers are usually biased when it comes to their Tier Lists and Ban Lists. They take what they see in TCG and apply it to Master Duel when both games are VERY different from each other.

If we are talking Tier 1 decks, currently, for MD, I'd say Tri-Brigade Zoo. The rest of the decks listed are irrelevant because any deck at that point can reach Diamond, especially bot decks.

the only tier list worth looking at is one compiled from recent tournament results and ladder representation

your list has way too many decks in it. the only two tier 1 decks right now are tri-zoo and swordsoul due to topping / winning nearly every tourney this month. every other deck lags far behind.

virtual world, pranks, drytron, eldlich, invoked dogmatika, and phantom knights see reasonable tournament representation but they are nowhere near as consistent as either tri-zoo or swordsoul.
