Why Master Duel and not Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution?
More than "it's free to play" why should I choose Master Duel more than Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution?

master duel has way more cards, and your account is "on the go".

i like playing the old tag force and link evo games too but.. alas

Speaking of, how recent are the most recent cards in master duel?

Are the dinorphia cards in yet? Those quickly became my favorites in other games.

link evo stops at around when Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown, which was feb 2020.

so its like 2 years behind in new cards and uses its own custom ban list.

Yeah I know about that, roughly how recent is Master duel though? Does it have all of the cards currently available? cards only announced? Is it a set or two behind?

Edit: I just got in game. Looking at shop.

Seriously? Only 3 packs to buy, and one of them seems to have every card in the game in it? That's a little... yikes... I thought it would have the same sets as real yugioh x.x

LotD has a horrible UI. The way that they implemented chaining just makes you want to not use traps at all. Either you get bombarded with "Do you want to activate" text boxes whenever you have a card like Call of the Haunted, or you have to react and decide whether you want to chain anything within a split second.
The Animations for summoning and attacking with the protagonists' ace monsters is also pretty annoying and you can't skip them or turn them off iirc.

Dinorphias were released in Battle of Chaos, which hasn't even released in the TCG yet. Master Duels doesn't even have the 2 main sets before that, as far as I'm aware.

You unlock new "secret packs" for a limited time when pulling a key card of an archetype. Those packs include the cards for that archetype. You can also sell cards to buy other cards of the same rarity at a 3:1 ratio.

You can go to the settings during a duel, press the icon in the top left and you can change the settings there, this includes getting rid of those boxes asking "do you want to activate" etc.

Fair, this was the answer I was looking for. So Dinorphia doesn't exist and the game is a few sets behind?

I guess the idea of secret packs are not the worst thing I have heard of, I was really worrying about how much it would cost to get specific cards out of that 6000 card set...

Well ♥♥♥♥ this isn't going to do anything for my card buying addiction...

Like I said, you have either that, or no boxes at all unless you press a button. There is no "Auto" mode that just asks you to chain when it actually makes sense like Duel Links or every other Yugioh game made by Konami themselves. In LotD you only have always on or always off.

Because link evolution has not been updated for a VERY long time, this has the most recent cards if i recall correctly
Showtgunner Jan 19, 2022 @ 2:04pm
So is that all? Bad UI and not updated cards? There's really no point for getting Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution?
I have to be honest, I'm a little bit disappointed..
Kiloton Jan 19, 2022 @ 5:46pm
Legacy of the Duelist has no microtransactions and is ideal for singleplayer. There are hundreds of AI opponents with decks that lean closer what they had in the show instead of the meta so difficulty is relaxed. A single duel awards enough points for multiple card packs. I dunno if the same can said for the free-to-play game. It may not have the latest expansions, but 10k cards still makes for a lot of variety.
