If it was in the game, everyone would run one red eyes fusion, dark magician, and red eyes in their deck. That's what happened for the tcg, it's too strong. It's not good for the health of the game
I don't even understand why they thought that it was a fine card for the game. Like seriously, super easy to summon (even without Verte) and its many effects are way too strong.

Perhaps if it was nerfed to state "Cannot be summoned by the effect of Red-Eyes Fusion"...

Consistency thy name is not Konami.

I somewhat agree but to be fair Getting out dragoon is waaaayyy easier than either Rhongo or VFD. Dragoon is extremely spashable but Rhongo and VFD aren't.

The splash factor makes Dragoon worse, but Rhongo and VFD are equally as bad despite their comparable difficulty to get out.

Honestly Herald of Ultimateness is also up there as long as Eva/Benten are running around.

Basically any card that says "I went first and you didn't draw the right handtrap/Droplet/Dark Ruler no More, you can't play the game now" is terrible for the game imo.

Because meta sheeps can't handle when a non meta deck stomp them and make their unbreakable board of monsters look bad. As a Red-Eyes player it shows how smug they are while there is so much worst out there so damn busted that it's shocking it's not banned.

Was dragoon really so oppressive? I heard it could eat a casual deck by itself but meta decks could deal with it without that much trouble you just had to deal with it fast.

Dragoon is a Drytron card. "Meta sheep" are the ones that would use Dragoon (and DPE later on).

There are stronger cards, it's the fact that you can basically just turn any 2 monsters on your field into a red-eyes dragoon that got it banned alongside the power. You can't cheat out a herald of ultimateness or 5-material rhongo anywhere near as easily. You can be going for your main combo, get negated halfway through, then just turn the trash on your board into verte anaconda and end your interrupted turn on a dragoon that controls the board. You had no reason NOT to use it while it was available. In fact, it would be pretty stupid not to throw it into every single deck with a few very specific exceptions like monarchs or something
