Are we still far away from a competent AI to duel against?
In the case of Duel Links, the AI is hilariously bad, despite the crapload of data from millions of duels Konami could use to train it. They don't even have to hard code combos for it to work, because machine learning is a thing.

In MD I feel like having a good AI is still a distant dream, seeing how when you play against it in Solo Mode, it just freezes sometimes "thinking", only to make really dumb plays.

I say this because if Konami REALLY took advantage of the technology that exists today in this field, we'll not only get a competent AI to duel against, but it will come up with combos we didn't even think about before because of the huge card pool it can work with.

I tend to always give my new decks at least a try in one of the solo mission, to see how the draw's going, that type of thing.

And that about as much as i expect from the AI. It's a tool, either to learn the basics, try a new deck and sometimes to amuse you a bit, like with those quests we have in MD. (or torture you, depending on the quest)
