Controls?
Using the first bomber in the campaign I can't seem to fire torpedoes. I tried fire button and alt fire button nothing happened. I tried aiming first nothing happened. I'd like to say I tried again but the capital ship blew me up while I was still attempting to aim at a turret since the aim button didn't do anything until I was already within firing range of the enemy I only had a few seconds.

Open the menu, in the options/settings you can rebind your controls.
The attack controls in this game are a bit weird compared to most other flight simulator games. You've got firing controls for the following:
  • Fire 1: shoots your lasers or plasma cannons if you have them. If you don't have those, it fires your chaingun, rail gun, or 40mm cannon.
  • Fire 2: shoots your chaingun, rail gun, or 40mm cannon... if you don't have those then it fires the ion cannons.
  • Fire Ions: for ships that have THREE types of weapons (laser/plasma, chain/rail/40mm, AND ion cannons) this will shoot the ion cannons.
  • Fire rocket/missile: launch a rocket or missile, if you have one equipped.
  • Rear-mounted targeting: look behind you and shoot whoever is chasing you. This is a TOGGLE SWITCH, hit it again to return to the normal forward view. The actual firing controls are the same as if you are looking forwards.
  • Target lock-on: you need to hold this button to track the enemy so your guns will actually hit them, can only lock-on when you are close enough to see their HP bars which is within about 500 meters.

I don't remember the default controls. I set mine to this because it's easier since I have a mouse with a bunch of extra buttons. Now I can steer my ship with left hand (and lock-on) while I shoot with my right hand.
FIRE 1 = mouse 1
FIRE 2 = mouse 2
FIRE IONS = mouse 3
FIRE ROCKETS = mouse 5
REAR-TARGETING = mouse 4
LOCK-ON TARGETING = L-SHIFT.
