If there's a new TWD game it doesn't need to feature the same characters.
Telltale games have not been revived. An investment group bought the name. What exists now is a pale imitation of the original. The new company have done both cosmetic DLC and episodes locked being additional paywalls. The only game they have put out is one they didn't make themselves and subcontracted Deck Nine and Deck Nine themselves have been under scruitiny for workplace issues. The new Telltale have already had mass layoffs and is apparently an incredibly badly run company with the management an absolute mess. Five years on from the announcement of Wolf Among Us 2 people are still entirely in the dark as to when that game is releasing if it even releases.
The company that made the original games went bankrupt five years ago. They are not back and never will be. The New Telltale did back some original staff but have never been willing to disclose what those numbers are and after the above mentioned layoffs may not even be there anymore.
The original Telltale have not existed for five years. You aren't getting them back.
