Tutorial: FIX for Stuttering

I can't speak for seasons 2thru4 or Michone, but for me season 1 stuttered enough that it made the game hard to play for me. Long story short, after a bit of research I found that if you open task manager and select the WDC.exe process and set its affinity and disable CPU 0, it will completely stop the stuttering. The only drawback was you had to do this every. single. time. you boot the game.

There is a way the set the affinity permanently though, and here I'll discuss a real easy way.

Now, you could go the route of creating a system shortcut and figuring out the hexadecimal code and all that so-called easy nonsense which some people still find to be confusing, OR you could do it by downloading and installing a neat free tool.

Go to google and search for systemexplorer.net

Download the tool and install it.

Once the tool is up and running, locate WDC.exe in the list of processes, right click on it and go to process affinity and uncheck 1. Now, right click WDC.exe again, go back to process affinity and check Permanent.

And that's all there is to it. After marking it permanent with the tool it will load the game without using that first core. This completely removed all the stuttering for me in Season 1, and I didn't have to disable v-sync, shadows, or anything else. This may also help with the other seasons as well, but I have yet to experience it.

Thank you! The difference is night and day for Episode one with this fix! had already spent an hour trying to figure it out before i stumbled upon this!

Yeah, this really needs to be made more widely known. I had to search way too long and test the software myself before suggesting it. I fixed it on 3 different pc's using this method. Topic needs to be stickied or something. Glad it helped you, buddy.

Just found the topic and will try this method...the original series worked well on a series 700 gtx and it worked well than this stuttering mess on a decent rx 580 8gb that runs metro exodus or tarkov without too much work....shame they didn't address these issues when making this edition and the original works better.
P.S.: With how much time passed between this post and now how were the other seasons? same stuttering mess?

I'm in season one struggling to get through episode 3 it won't stop stuttering without giving away spoilers I had missed out on so many opportunities of voice lines it was ridiculous
