Gamebreaking bug near the end

About an hour till the end of the game when Ed gets dressed, shaves, and wants to find Jenny I don't get a prompt on the door to leave the house. Tried reloading the game but it didn't work. I don't feel like replaying eight hours, so I guess I'll watch the rest on youtube. Ye be warned.

There are other objectives in the house that have to be completed before being able to go outside.

Yeah, I did everything and interacted with every possible hotspot but I still didn't get the prompt on the door to leave the house. I double checked with a walkthrough to make sure I'm not missing anything.

WARNING.....clue in next paragraph:

i also could not open the door to leave the house. and yes, i found the
earring, and that didn't work. i loaded the previous save back when Doc asks Ed about Veronica, and still no prompt to open the front door. and i watched a walkthrough and followed each step....still nothing. also clicked the couch prompt prior to trying the door and again nothing. so i'm left unable to finish and so close to the ending. really disappointing as i loved the game up until this.

just had same bug happen to me... cant finish game

I thought I had an bug too. I replayed the whole previous chapter and still couldn't opened that door.
After running around a while i realized that I missed out 2 things: the first was a box in the room behind the kitchen with the name "Eddie" on it and the second one was a chess figure to the right of the front door. I think only the last one was really necessary as directly after taken the figure I could finally open that door.

This was the most frustrating sequence in the entire game. I wandered around the house for FOREVER, before I found this thread. Worse, I'd already found the chess piece, but it wasn't possible to pick that up until after you'd found the box. And I couldn't see THAT, because it was too high up! Ugh!
