[SPOILERS] Question about two characters' relationship

I've completed the standard ending and the nil ending, but there's one thing that's still puzzling me. There are references at several points in the game to the past relationship between Date and Ryuki, but I don't recall ever seeing this explained. I feel like I missed a segment of the story. Are there some details about this that I overlooked?

From what I understood, it seemed to me that Date and Ryuki met through work and were like work colleagues/friends who went drinking together sometimes. It seemed to be implied that Ryuki had feelings for Date, but it was never suggested that Date was aware of this or felt the same way, if that's what you meant by relationship.

Thanks, glad to know I didn't miss something big! I got the impression that there was going to be a big reveal about some past link between them that tied in with the story somehow, but that never came.

I got the feeling Ryuki saw himself as Date Jr., he looked up to him as a detective, and became his protégé... I remember Date saying their closeness was 'physical', at the time I thought it meant cuz they're both guys who have AI-bails but, of course so do Bibi and Mizuki

That line actually made me suspect that maybe Aiba had been with Ryuki for a time -- because we never do learn how Ryuki lost his eye, do we? I wouldn't be shocked if something related to all of this was left on the cutting room floor.

I don't remember where but they said Ryuki simply gave up his left eye to get an AI ball installed
Nothing serious honestly, i guess just part of the job
