The first time you talk to Tokiko dialogue will appear with regard to her wanting a certain number inputted.
Gotcha, thanks, I was looking on the wrong day.
It's when Mizuki and Quartz/Bibi go back to Naix HQ in the epilogue. Tokiko's hologram appears and displays the nil number visually.
I wouldn't recommend inputting this code at all even if you reach the true end, just leave it there. The cost of that ending is too heavy.
Nil number is : 205989
As to why it is the worst ending :
Sure seems like a happy ending doesn't it? But let's not forget the price of that ending is you just created a god in a simulated world. Sure more people die and suffer in the true ending, but at least everyone has a happy dance off and nobody becomes a god. Don't forget Mame's choice when she was talking to Tokiko in the Somnium "Would you rather have your biggest secret revealed? Or be part of some terrible plot?". That choice was actually aimed at you too, Do pretend to be an NPC with Tokiko, keeping your secret? Or do you play along with her terrible plot after telling her you are a player? In the end, Tokiko plays you instead, and now the whole game world is her toy box to play with.
This game is a masterpiece in many ways if you can keep up with everything going on.
Do you end the game being the hero that saved the world?
Or did you end the game being the hero who saved the people.
Saving the world comes with more loss of people.
But saving the people comes with extinction because the world is now in danger.
You made some very good points. But funny enough I think it's possible that "nil ending" could be the canon ending, which would lead to AI3. There are a couple of reasons for this:
Player's existence and his meddling with the story is canonical, because there is no other way Ryuki would have known culprit's full name, and without that knowledge Mizuki's side is unachievable. There is also that dialog between Player and Mama. Speaking of Mama - her "possessions" and their accuracy could also be explained as some other Player's interference and direct talk with characters. The scene when you get nil number is mandatory with no way to miss it. And without "nil ending" itself Tokiko's actions make no sense.
Well, technically speaking, if you not trying to save people and only saving the world itself, one day there will be just that. The world. Without people in it.
But I understand you point of view and in some way agree. "Nil ending" also leaved some bad taste in my mouth. Then again, Tokiko may actually wouldn't do anything from now on. After all, she achieved her dream and long ago emotionally reached some kinda enlightenment state. So there is maybe no reason for her to actually do anything more now.
