Given that 1 is still in a pretty bad shape (FMVs won't render the last time I checked) I would assume that it won't get good support soon.
Edit: Turns out that's because I had the Flatpak Proton enabled. Switching to Proton stable and the game now boots. The FMVs still look pretty bad though...
Edit 2: Proton Experimental renders them perfectly. So I guess Yes?
when activating x-ray vision, the surrounding area and target of interest is all
a bright white; this means that it is impossible to see the target of interest unless you move the cursor all over the place
I am currently installing the game on my Windows computer just to make sure it isn't meant to look like that (though I highly doubt that it is meant to look like that).
I've also not tried anything too fancy (like trying with Glorious Eggroll), and I just went with Proton Experimental initially.
edit 1: having installed the game on Windows, I can confirm the behaviour I mentioned in the spoiler tag is definitely not normal.
edit 2: My bad. The issue I ran into was related to half rate shading (which I tend to have on to maximise battery life). That option needs to be disabled otherwise you get definite weirdness. So if there are any Deck users out there who experienced the same thing then that's why.
Since that seems to be resolved, initial experiences on Deck are pretty good. Haven't gotten far enough yet to definitively say one way or the other though. (But it certainly looks promising).
Playing at 40fps, but otherwise using default settings in the Quick Access Menu.
40FPS? I increased the resolution to 1440p and it runs at 60 just fine. No reason to lock this one to 40hz, especially if playing at standard resolution/settings.
Not sure what to say. I haven’t had any issues so far. The only thing I changed was forcing the internal/external resolution to 1440p.
Yeah, a lot of people haven't. Some people have been unfortunate (like me) and have. Thanks for letting me know it works fine for you, though, because I at least know it's *probably* something dumb with my Deck (or my steam profile) so I'm gonna wipe it and see if I can figure it out on a second profile (there are a few other ppl tweeting about it so I know it isn't just me)
edit: it was not something dumb with my steam deck and I have confirmed that it happens even in a completely sterile environment (wiped deck, no tweaking, new user). bizarre. opened an issue on Github for it so maybe we'll get it fixed soon.
there were some people having issues with videos with vsync enabled, but i kinda doubt it's that in this case.
The problem is I've finally hit a video you really NEED to see for the plot and I don't know how to fix that. Maybe the videos are in some kind of format or have some kind of attached DRM attached proton just doesn't support?
If so, why would the devs do something so dumb? As I switch between Deck and PC I keep having to change the graphics settings.
I have played on both my windows laptop and steam deck, and both have always been configured exactly how I wanted them to be. It's not like the game really has graphics options, but both devices ran the game at their native resolution as intended.
Download ProtonUp-QT from Discover, Install GE-Proton7-21 (released today) for steam and switch to that version of proton in the steam compatibility settings, Videos work with that.
The older Proton 7.1-GE-2 works as well, but you might as well use the newer version.
I just checked what files are being uploaded to Steam Cloud.
launcher.ini is definitely being synced with Steam Cloud on my account (you can check your Steam Cloud files in a browser), and the graphics settings are stored in there.
I found this info here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
So it’s definitely syncing graphic settings.
