Breath of fresh air!!!
So excited to continue the journey beyond Halcyon, hopefully this time the protagonist won't be mute. More planets to explore and vehicles to drive! Bring it on next year!

Mute protagonists are better to let the world shine, unless Obsidian wants to make your character way more defined like Shepherd or V it should stay mute IMO. it gives a lot more flexibility to what a character can say since we don't need all of every possible line you can say voice acted.

How can a sequel that looks exactly the same be a "breath of fresh air"?!

Probably as in a breath of fresh air to gaming as it is, high quality RPGs with lots of role play and story emphasis are hard to come by even among the good games that are around.

Mine are never mute. I always read out my dialog choices.

Same could be said of Fallout New Vegas looking exactly like Fallout 3, and yet players praise New Vegas to the heavens.

I'm in the mute protagonist camp if the game has a flexible character creator. If you're playing a predefined character like Commander Shepherd, V or Geralt, that's a named character, usually with a voice that fits.

Fallout 4 for example had a weird mish mash where you could make a big, fat, balding guy in his 70's who looks like a used car salesman but he's always got the voice of... Nate, the 30-something year old war veteran. What's more, you then had a voiced character who could have any number of crazy names and therefore never actually introduces themselves to anyone.
