I hope they surprise us with something different just like how they make Wo Long combat mechanics so much more different then the standard TN series.
Also gameplay mechanics need reworking because in Nioh 2 attackpower actually meant something. In this game you can spam martial arts and you won't put a dent on bosses hp. You land a few critical blows and spam a few spells and the boss is dead.
Attacks and martial arts should do decent enough damage for the "end game grind" to mean anything.
The first boss of the DLC is highly scripted and he does parry/evade any martial arts or heavy attack, so your only optimal option is to...parry/fatal strike.
I don't know if you manage to beat him otherwise, but that's essentially what wo long is.
In this context, what would be the end game? Tough question. I guess you'll parry more. Bosses will have variations in rhythm (samba, tango, ...) and you'll have the impression of playing Guitar Hero but with two buttons.
If they add higher star gear Wo Long will end up having more loot tiers than Nioh, but if it lets me have more premium slots I guess I won't complain. I've been using the Quake Griffin Hammer and it has +47 fire enchant. I got a different piece of loot that has "spirit damage with fire AA". I can't use it because it wants me to put the gem where my fire enchant is.
They made a game with the premise 'what if Sekiro was a souls-like with stats and weapons'. You deflect like in Sekiro, but you get crits and rinse and repeat like in Elden Ring. In my opinion Stranger of Paradise did the posture break and get the killing blow a bit better in that once you got the posture break a basic enemy would be dead or boss would enter a new phase.
Wo long does some good things with co-op. As a recruit being able to see the level your going into is good. As a summoner being able to just pop a tiger seal without going being at a save flag is good too. The only real improvement they need to do is add unrestricted co-op rooms that are not friend or password dependent and enable crossplay between the microsoft store and pc gamepass versions.
Yeah, Nioh and Wo Long coop system is way better than another over hyped game with multiple unwritten rules lol Not sure the reason Team Ninja restricted coop with paswords for Wo Long, except it doesn't stop invaders.
Crossplay is still far away imo because game platform owners are overly protective of their platforms. I bought another game on MS Store which Steam sells, and Steam doesn't allow me to link any content here.
