Nioh 2 Still Goat
Nioh 2 remains the best, both for the artistic direction and for the combat system, wo long's lack of combos and variety of weapons is incredible, unfortunately as an enthusiast I am disappointed, I hope for rise of the ronin. Wo long could have been a nioh 2 dlc

You might want to reread my post, buddy. I didn't "change" from "depth" to "expression."

I literally said that the depth is the very thing that allows for player expression. Player expression is not possible without significant depth.

ok brony.

A brony, like yourself, would never sharpen that MLP pencil anyway. You would leave it in pristine condition and put it on display, so this is a bad comparison.

And here's the thing, the deep combat in Nioh doesn't mean you have to use every option available.

The main benefit of it is that you have so many different options in every single situation, that you can basically express your own individuality through your own unique combination of choices. This is what people mean when they talk about "player expression."

First it was more "depth" now it is player's "expression". You couldn't make things up can you?
If you loved the game you wouldn't spend so much time whining about how there are different ways to approach every encounter in the game, one of the strong points Wo Long entirely lacks. There is a lot of depth and expression in Nioh 2 that Wo Long lacks that make it a less unique and interesting experience, just because you can't makeup your mind on what to use, it doesn't make the options you disregard useless, your indecisive meandering isn't a problem with the game, it's you being indecisive. In Wo long, sticking with the ring pommel sword is the best way to play the game up to at least part 5, objectively, the game is about parrying and it has the best parry window of most weapons until part 4 when qiang sabers start dropping. In Nioh 2 however, there's no objectively better weapons than any other (until the dlcs give you the izuma drop grapple for sword and fists only, allowing a grapple and then a stomp right after) so you're incentivised to experiment with your approach, this is a good thing, forcing a playstyle however is not a good thing.

Come up with an actual counter point other than "it not deep or expressive because i can't make up my mind on what to use" this time please, you're in a discussion, discuss.

Where did I whine? I merely pointing out that the "depth" that people claim Nioh 2 has is not really very "depth~y".

Did my difference of opinion and preference trigger your projection?

I like both games, I just happen to like Wo Long more. I did spend 500 over hours in Nioh 2. If I don't love that game, would I spend 500 over hours?

I believe that everyone has their preference, I just find it funny that every new game, you have funny people telling others that their preference is objectively true and if you say other wise, you are a "whinner". Ironically, they are here whinning about how this game is not like their favourite Nioh 2, when it really isn't meant to be like their favourite Nioh 2. Ironic isn't it?

I don't need people's validation for not liking or disliking another game. Thread like this pops up like mushroom in almost every new game. Dark souls 2, darks souls 3, Nioh 2, Elden Ring and surprise surprise, Wo Long.:steamhappy:

Fair enough. I have made the (in hindsight) regrettable mistake of immediately going for the full package, so I'm getting the DLCs automatically when they release.
I do get the point, though.
Yeah, I played the demo, then I played the game on Gamepass.
The smart way to do things, then. I do appreciate the approach.

I was pretty much blinded by how good Nioh and Nioh 2 turned out to be. I usually do not preorder or buy deluxe editions, ever.

However, I'm still hopeful for patches and DLCs to improve things. If not: shrug shoulders, accept the miscalulation and move on. :eng:

I might even get Strangers of Paradise soonish, but not for full price and this time, for PS5 instead.

Nioh Story and world is 100% finished there won't be Nioh 3 you can forget that.
but they will sure make other games that might come close to it.
Except they could make a Nioh for every mythology. Like imagine a Nioh with Norse mythology, or Greek Gods, or Celtic Fae.

But thats NOT nioh XD
it will be a 100% new game with a different name lol
You talking about and wanting a Niohlike game.

To be frank, this should be a thing.

Soulslike: like Dark Souls - deliberate, punishing, heavy, morose, interesting.
Niohlike: like Nioh - fast, reaction-heavy, complex systems, punishing, stacking NG+ runs, gameplay-focussed.

Both share things, but are different in character.
I like Soulslikes, but I would love Niohlikes.

Sadly, Wo Long fails a bit to be a Niohlike. Too little complexity for that. Still closer to that than to being a Soulslike.

It could be though. Same mechanics. Same concepts. Different areas and different characters. Hell, the main character of Nioh 1 wasn't even Japanese by birth, the game started out in the west, and his main spirit BFF wasn't even a Japanese Yokai.

Ugh I was really hoping for a game to scratch that NIOH itch. Disappointed to know Wo Long just isn't it.

Then go play a Nioh 2 Mod. If all you care is about skins and Nioh 2 game play.

Yeah, I feel that pain. I'm in the process to slowly convince myself it's in the spirit of Nioh.

Mixed success. Still, I don't think it's a bad game on its own.

You say this like you think it is a bad thing. I played Skyrim with mods, and that was Skyrim. I would definitely love to play some Overhaul mods based on Nioh 2.

Wo long is more like sekiro which dumbed down combat, which was reason why i was not fan of sekiro but that good game in own right nioh and nioh 2 infinitely more fun to play special with all the weapons and 3 stance they have. Sekiro had zero replay value imo and I dont see how Wo Long will either. Nioh/2 definitely have replay value

That said I like Wo Long but i wont buy till in on sale by that time pc issue so be fixed. Now Nioh and Nioh 2 probably only games i preorder in last decade. both have easily 1000+ hours in each of them.

Not to be out game hour wise though Skyrim has well over 5000hours put into

How did I say it as if it is a bad thing? I am curious.

While I drink you quite regularly, your post is crap.
Bigotry to the max.

Even if 99% of any anime profiles doing something you don't like is true, that's still massive bigotry.

Not to say I don't agree with you sometimes.

That said, either shut up or represent your company label with all the repercussions involved.
