Its fast paced and you always use what you have in a fight. And if you wanna get more you need to get spirit from attacking / defelcting. You have no mana or spell use fixed. It all depends on your mastery of the pace of the combat / enemy.
I actually started to like this concept, i struggled a bit to get into it.
If I were to change it, I would have made morale make your AI reinforcements fight harder / worse. So if you're morale 25 with Liu Bei, he's going to always act like "encouraged" Liu Bei and spam martial arts and magic. If it's level 0, he's gonna circle around enemies and be super passive. That way, even if you're level 25, you can just send him away and not take advantage. And instead of YOUR spells being based on morale, their spells / attacks could be based on it.
But this way the level gets easier the deeper you're into it. Should it not be the other way around 😅
You can level this stuff up being better or not. Just like the combat arts being more effective. But those you can use all the time.
Very weird design indeed.
