VRR works on Windows 11??
So I used to have stutters and slowdowns when dipping under 120fps on Windows 10 and on my 120hz OLED TV it would say VRR off but GSYNC on. For the hell of it I upgraded to Windows 11 to try it out and to my surprise on my TV it actually says VRR on now and it actually feels so much smoother and no more slowdowns. Now everyone keeps saying that the slowdowns were because of the game not supporting VRR but maybe Windows 11 can force it on games that don't support it? It certainly seems to be the case...Anyways something you guys can try if you are on Windows 10 and are getting slowdowns and stutters! :)

The setting in Windows is to universally allow variable refresh rate to function on Windows Store games which do not have native support for VRR due to the way Windows Store games are. Some do have native support but it needs to be added by the developer with this setting that is no longer the case.

This is not the case for games from other storefronts. This setting is not needed (it won't help or hurt turning it on) for games that are NOT from the Windows Store.

For every other game not from the Windows Store you should be enabling VRR through your nvidia or amd control panel (gsync/gsync-compatible/freesync) as this is the way for any non-Windows Store games to use VRR.

However, all VRR does is match the refresh rate of your monitor to the frame rate of the game. This in no way affects game performance.

I know how VRR works and I always had GSYNC on in NVCP. I am just saying that I am not getting slowdowns anymore and the game feels smoother in general when fps dips below 120 which was not the case before when I was on Windows 10 and the only thing that changed is now my TV actually says VRR is on now. I still need to do more testing in some other areas, but so far it feels way smoother.
