yes, the demo is 1:1 with the full game gameplay wise, give it a try.

Game's fantastic.

It is a bit repetitive and same-old stuff. If you enjoyed nioh and sekiro gameplay-wise you would enjoy this too.

Very fun, especially once you get later in the game and start building around weapon types, skills, and magic. It may not be as complex as the Nioh fracchise but it is fun and unique in its own right. The more I play the more I enjoy it.

I feel like the NG+ run will be even better because this game excels when enemies have more health to eat through, allowing you to get some cool combos in.

I'm enjoying it, but it has none of the depth Nioh had. Its a passable system and its a fun game but I would not rate it as highly as Nioh or Sekiro.

Am I having fun, though? Yes, sometimes people forget not every game is gonna be extraordinary.

Absolutely!
The parry focused gameplay with a parry window that manageable even for, let's say "advanced casuals", this game simply feels phenomenal to play.
I think what i like most however is the spin on the stamina system.
Instead of being a resource to manage, it's a pendulum bar.
Certain actions, like an empty parry, blocking or getting hit, push the par left. If full, you get dazed for a few seconds.
Beneficial actions however, like a successful attack or parry, push the far right. This can either be used as a buffer for actions, or you can burn it via a strong attack and effectively push your enemies stamina bar to the left.

It's such an elegant, hassle free system that let's you focus much more on the action rather then micromanage each attack. Plus, if you play all your cards right, it really let's you bully enemies hard!

All in all, so far the difficulty feels just right and the combat system is extremely satisdying.
I only started playing yesterday. I can really say. The boss fight makes you feel like a Three Kingdom warrior. I managed to kill Lu Bu after countless tries. It is so satisfying.

Personally, i welcome it being not as deep. Nioh, especially Nioh 2, felt extremely overwhelming at times.
For me, at least half its mechanics went unused because the moment to moment gameplay simply didn't really allow me to think all my options through :D

Worse than Nioh 1 and 2 IMO. But it has better level design.

I agree that not every game needs to have the depth of the Nioh games as long as its still fun to play, but I would not say this game is devoid of it depth. Its just a different take with more focus on different gameplay systems.

Its more similar to strangers of paradise then Nioh and it almost makes me wonder if SoP was a "test" of the parry mechanics since it also has the "soul shield" that act like a parry. As of now I would probably say Nioh 2 > Wo Long = SoP > Nioh 1 (but that could change once I finish the game and get into NG+).

I still feel that if this game sales good enough that it will be a nice companion to the Nioh series assuming they eventually go back to the Nioh franchise.

Yeah, Nioh 2 is like the severe, stern aunt you had - while you did like her, you dreaded coming over every time, it had the feeling of a chore.

Wo Long is like the fun oncle that makes you laugh less than a minute in, but you won't ever talk about rocket science with him.

I guess that is why I feel I like Wo Long much better. I is a challenge while fun at the same time.

Nioh 2 had many times made me scratch my head with a lot of its cool but not very practical skill sets which I have to spend points to unlock and money to reset.

Yup, pretty much this! I love Nioh to bits. It's a fantastic game through and through.
But it can also be extremely demanding and complex.
To me, Wo Long is the first Soulslike game that hasn't been stressful. It's just super fun when everything falls into place, and if you get mauled, the level design usually gives you plenty options to approach an encounter differently, so retries aren't too dry.

As much as I love Nioh 2 people forget that many of the nodes in the skill trees were just passive stat boosts and not all game changing weapon skills. I still like the choice in Nioh 2 but this game is straight to the point, challenging, rewarding and fun to play.
