Getting rid of the NPCs helping

Is there any way to get rid of these NPCs helping you out? They're really getting in the way. Or do they at least stop automatically showing up later on?

USe the willow branch. You get it on stage 2. That being said, the NPC's have the added bonus of interacting with specific parts of the levels/world, so you miss out on some lore-esque segments if you decide not to bring em.

There is an item (I got it in the demo at least) that allows you to unsummon them. If you do that tho you won't be maxing out their bonds which gives you their armors. In other words - its possible but you shouldnt do it.

Is that armor/weapons really that good? It's getting really annoying how they keep jumping in and more or less kill the guy for me
