Stuttering after resuming the game
I got 120 FPS with no stuttering. Quit the game and then resumed a few hours later and suddenly I'm getting severe stuttering in the same area where I had no issues before.

The weirdest part is that when I pause the game the stuttering goes away, despite the game state not actually pausing, meaning I can still run around and trigger enemies etc with the menu up (just like in Nioh and any Soulsborne game).
But when I unpause the stuttering returns.

Yes, I restarted the game a few times. Yes, I restarted my PC. Yes, I waited a while to see if the game could resolve it on its own.
All to no avail.

Anyone else have this weird ass bug and was able to fix it?

I have the same. Usually it is because the settings have been reset and I have to disable ambient occlusion etc. again.
I suspected the same initially, but after toggling volumetric fog etc. from low back to high and down to low again it didn't help.
But now that I'm typing this out, I didn't do it from the menu, but from in-game.
Where did you reset them? In-game or main menu?

I mean I turn them all off. Plays fine. Close game and start again and all those options didn't save/reset and I have to turn them all off again.

Sometimes turning them all off again still gives bad frametime so restart pc and the cycle continues.
Alright. Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately for me it didn't actually reset them. They were still "low/off" after restarting the game.
I also just tried doing it from the main-menu instead of in-game with no change. Still stuttering like crazy.

Seems like the game is always stuttering when I start it up and it goes on for a minute or 2. Then it stops, mostly. It's weird.

I figured something out... unpluggin your controller will remove the stutters. Sadly adding it again they are back. It seems something is borked.

There is a thread saying if you have a 12th gen intel the e-cores need to be disabled in the bios to improve frametime.
I'm on a Ryzen 9, so doesn't apply to me. But potentially a good info to have for others.

I wish I knew what effect/render it culls when I pause the game (reminder that playing while in the pause menu removes the stutter), so I could maybe start tinkering around in the Nvidia Control Panel. But I notice no difference visually and I looked at enemies, fire, water, cloth and dust particles.

Same with me, Made me so sad too because it makes it super difficult to defeat bosses when I get a stutter right as an unblockable is in my face lmao

I might be late but you can disable steams custom controller support via "Right click on the game in Library" -> "Properties" -> "Controller" -> "Disable Steam Input" and this stopped the stuttering for me and I was able to keep using my PS4 controller via usb.

If I had to guess I would say that the game switches between the native controller support and the custom controller support of steam constantly which causes the stuttering.

Has a similar issue with Elden Ring.

Did not fix it for me unfortunately, but I use a Xbox One Controller.
At this point only a patch can fix all the issues.
