Nerf the first boss immediately!
I spent 25.8 hours on the demo as I was writing and did a 4 min speedrun on first level. Clearly, I am enjoying the game, but that might not be the case for other people. Zhang Liang is too difficult for a first level boss. One of my friend ended up refunding the pre-order after being stuck in the boss fight for too long.

As I see it, there are 3 main issues with the first boss:
1. There was no coop option on the first level, so even if I want to help my friends, I won't be able to.
2. If you die fighting the second form, you will have to fight the first form all over again.
3. Morale 10 is a little bit too low for most people to beat the boss. Beginners are unlikely to farm morale, they'll just rage quit the game.

This is a great game and I sincerely wish more people can play and enjoy it.

If they react like that on a difficult game, sadly this game wasnt for them.
Like for example, sports games arent for me and so on...

The tutorial and first map of nioh also cannot be played on coop, a friend of mine bought the game just to get stuck on the island for 10h.
I kinda agree the first boss is the hardest, 2 phases with 3 healin items is kinda hard for the average player but the second phase can be skipped when the boss is at half hp.

I disagree with you, first boss that it is very easy, but you have to know his strokes, as this is a tutorial for the game

So Zhang Liang is the new margit ?
Dat Pineapple Feb 27, 2023 @ 7:18pm
obligatory git gud.

Learn to parry, learn to dodge. If you suck at the game then just slow down and only go in for 1 or 2 hits until you learn the attack patterns and timing. Don't ask for nerfs because your friend sucks at the game

I think it is fine for ensuring the player has a minimum understanding of playing the game.
Personally I don't think that fight is particularly challenging so "your friend" probably skipped reading or listening to any of the mechanics tutorials and just mashed buttons and doesn't care. If they don't care and aren't interested why would you even want them playing the game? They should go play call of duty or whatever they're really interested in.

Morale is pretty retarded though and just makes it so you have to alt f4 or quit to title when you're attempting no-hits or practicing to avoid having to grind it back up again.

No, it's not. Zhang Liang is way harder. Elden Ring is an open world game, so when you find it too difficult you can just farm more and deal with it later, not to mention the coop option. On the other hand, players have limited options to deal with Zhang Liang. This is an early boss that unnecessarily scares away average players.

Lol, Margit is waaay harder. Unless you cheese with magic ofc.

Skill issue. Once you learn this fight it's super easy.

Think of how dumbed down games would be it NES/SNES/Genesis games were criticized as harshly as games are now. People use to pay FULL price ($59) for games that majority of the consumers could NOT even finish. Back then they either got better or they moved on to other games (or they simply rented the games). If the internet was as big back then as it is now, we would have the most dumbed down simplified games (like mobile games) because people would complain about EVERY game back then lol.

If a game is too hard then don't blame the game blame the player. Nothing about this boss is cheap feeling and its simply telling you that you better get the deflect mechanic down or you will be here for a while. There are people who have no hit all of the demo bosses with ease and even I felt the demo was generally easy especially compared to the first level of the Nioh games.

Learn the mechanics, get the parry timing down, learn the bosses moveset and you can easily beat the first boss.

To alleviate the complaining all they needed to do was put the 2nd level first because those sub-bosses were even easier. No need to call for nerfs already in a demo of all things.

Learning curve I think catches people off guard for the first boss fight is knowing when it's safe to block and when it's safe to parry. In Sekiro form, the player will want to parry everything that comes their way. Don't. At least not until you get really good at it. If the attack doesn't flash red then just block it. The spirit system is extremely forgiving. Allowing you to block normal attacks so long as you thread in a few attacks of your own when you can.

LOL what the hell you can win against his 2nd form by summoning divine beast. already beaten him several times without using divine beast

My only problem is the deflect system which both does and doesn't makes sense to me. I get it skill issue but is it delayed or what is the timing for it? Sometimes I feel like it happens exactly when I want it and other times nothing happens so I take a hit.

Also the rank gauge thing that can go to 25 either makes you unstoppable or something else does because having it at max makes the first boss extremely easy.

They should make it so if you deflect while fighting more than 1 enemy the camera auto targets to that person. So I'm essentially saying the game should just be Arkham Batman of the souls-like genre.

i think the deflect scales with your weight burden, cause once you approach a certain level you can't even parry at all anymore.

prioritize dodging light attacks at close range with the boss, and only deal light attack damage to not expose yourself, when he has stun, you hit him, repeat twice and he will die the first way. you don't lose life and have 3 pots of healing for the second form.
In the second form, what causes a lot of stun on the boss is breaking the red arm, dodge everything, and counterattack only when he launches the arm. the most difficult for me is when he advances with several attacks in red and dodging is difficult. I still haven't beaten him, but I'm almost close to doing so. the first dlee form I totally mastered. I fight with morale 10, and tier 1 item, tier 3 boots and tier 2 helmet. DON'T USE MAGIC, it almost doesn't help you, we are very exposed when casting and it doesn't help much.

That would makes sense but tbh they should of just made a better tutorial to understand the mechanics of the game instead of the massive text walls. If they mentioned a training area like Nioh then I guess thats how you learn the game but it should be taught better in the starting area.
