Yeah, Koei games are always like that.
Don't worry, just play with chinese or japanese dub, english sub, no problem

the english voice acting may be terrible but i absolutely cant stand the way chinese sounds, i will be changing it to japanese since no matter what they say they sound badass lol.

I agree. Niohs were not that bad for the English it did have.

Just use the native / intended language. English dub is just there for people who are unable to read, like children or blind people for example. It's just a formality.

I will.

William was pretty good, I didn´t mind the english in Nioh at all, but yeah, only a few characters spoke english.

Eh? The chinese is certainly good enough, don´t often hear such good chinese voice acting. Only certain characters have subpar voice acting, and I guess when they have to imitate crying.

no i dont like how it sounds regardless of how good the voice acting is. not knocking it, just personal preference. i tried watching several chinese animes and i just could not stand it. but japanese, even the cheesy japanese shows sound much better.

Hattori's english was the best. People should not take voice acting too seriously in those games. Story in those games is just set dressing.

Another english acting disappointment ? Be assured ! Because you can switch the ugly english into beautiful japanese ! But if you are curious, you can also choose chinese voice since we are in a 100 year chinese war.

Yeah I was really impressed by how real Hattori's accent sounded, that's no small feat xD

Turn those subs off and you’ll soon come running back to the English dub

A game made in Japan and you tell OP to play with japanese dub like this game was made by americans ? The term dub is supposed to be for non-original voice acting. I am 11 out of 10 disappoint !

What I loved about Nioh was that it incorporated language raw. It was so authentic and cool. English, Engrish, Japanese and even Spanish! But Nioh had the circumstances for that. No foreign travelers in 200 A.D China I imagine.

But still, it is surprising how bad the voices are for English that they used for the trailer of all things. Like Dynasty Warriors 9 level bad.

I mean...I played Nioh 2 with Japanese V/o and I see that Wo Long has Chinese V/O as an option so I'll probably use that over english anyway. This is a pointless thread. Of course English is gonna feel jarring..

Stop being so defensive. I get the pre-release hazing that has become a common thing now, but that isn't what this is. It's a legitimate complaint and issue. There are ways to make english voice acting not sound awful in an asian setting, and I'm the guy that prefers english dub anime.

Sekiro wasn't cringe for example.
