Not authorized to play Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
I've owned and played Sunbreak since it was released. Two days ago I bought a new hairstyle for my hunter on the Steam Store but I ended up not liking how it looked in-game so I asked for a refund today. No problems, I got a message saying my request was accepted. But now when I try to play the game and I choose my hunter I get the message "You are not authorized to play MONSTER HUNTER RISE: SUNBREAK so this data cannot be used. Authorization to play is available on the Steam Store." I've tried restarting the game and Steam, no success. Please help!

You need to do more than that. If you hunter still uses the bought hairstyle, then you made an error I am not sure you can fix.

You might need to load a backup.

Flush the Steam download cache. Start the game without any DLCs active to re-evaluate your game via DRM after 24 hours passed.

Then start it again normal after that. That should fix the DRM issue. If not, please contact Steam support as they granted you the refund, and therefore it is within their responsibility,

Its pretty simple, your character has the hairstyle equipped, buy it again, unequip and then ask for another refund, if so explain the situation, but to be sure just tell you bought it by mistake.

It eventually started working on its own. I didn't have to reinstall or do anything.
Of course I didn't have the hairstyle equipped, that's just asking for trouble. The game was just bugging out on me. But it works now, so it's fine.
