communication error: [MR-230-87]

Since a few days before the sunrise update it's impossible for me to play online.

I can join an online lobby for about 1-2 minutes before I get commuinication error [MR-230-87]. I've tried a lot of suggestions of other discussions where people had similar issues but none of the fixes worked for me.

Every other game works fine with no issues, same with discord and every other thing that requires an online connection but Monster Hunter Rise just keeps giving me this error.

Does anyone have the same issue or a possible solution to this?

For anyone with the same problem, I think I got it fixed.
I did 2 things at the same time so it was probably only one of it:
1. completly reinstalling the game
2. opening all the ports (TCP/UDP 27015, TCP 27036, UDP 27031-27036) on my router, but this stuff was never an issue so I assume reinstalling the game was the fix

What antivirus software are you using?

Ok so... the error came back after one day working fine and even doing doing a couple hunts today (I didnt even restart the game when the error came back).

I also tried to deactive my firewall just to be sure that there isnt an issue but it also didnt work.

I'm really out of ideas now why it came back while I was playing with no changes to anything at all...

I'm sorry but when I wrote that I deactivated my firewall I deactivated everything including antivirus just to be sure...


My current thesis is that other steam games cant be open in the background (I always got wallpaper engine running) because when I restart my pc and open nothing but mh rise it works... or it was a weird coincidence....

I'll give updates if I find out something new in case someone got the same issue

Having the same intermittent disconnects. Sometimes it works fine and I can play for hours without disconnects, sometimes I get dropped from every hunt I join.

Ports open and forwarded, no AV, wired ethernet, router up to date and rebooted nightly, gigabit connection speed with no data caps or throttling, monitoring daemons show no loss of connectivity outside the game, game reinstalled/reset/verified multiple times.

Probably not a connection issue, i have the same probleme since the beginning and try every solution i found.
Nothing work, try with the support team but nothing change. Still searching every month for New solution.
In the beginning i really think this Come for my internet because i can't port forwarding on my modem.
But one day i try on my other computer and there is no error on it.

So i think it's from Windows, and i Hope i will find something to fixe it one day...

Sorry man. I quit playing the game months ago out of frustration.

Fired it up a few weeks ago to play with some friends and magically didn't have an issue through 2-3 hunts. Who knows?

I have a similar issue and I have also tried just about everything. My code is not the same but similar. My error code was MR-230-94.

I am also getting lots of disconnects with my friends MR-230-87. No issues with any other games. Tried port forwarding, no luck. Verifying the game. I even tried another ISP with no luck.

As I stated before the only thing that sorta solves the issue is a full restart on my PC and then only starting steam and MHR.

I have absolutely no Idea why or what the issue is but that works at least for me as kinda a fix and maybe it'll work for some of you too!

As Jan/2024 the issue is still happening. I've tried absolutely everything the internet said.
Repair windows files, ofc deactivate mods, deactivate completely firewal, clean install, installing in C: SSD drive, everything.

The only thing I'm trying RN is port forwarding. Initially thought it was a friend's issue, but it seemed It's my problem. We both have Windows and stuff, and he can play totally fine with some mods (for QoL like autosave less often).

I'm just stuck with this, last night tried @Lucy's fix of restarting the PC and only starting MHR and didn't work.

The only thing our systems can be different is my Windows is NOT activated. Is it a problem?
I'm waiting for a good release of Win11 to switch.
