Fps drops while in voice chat on discord

So while running around i noticed my frames were 5-7 lower than usual, so after a bit of troubleshooting i came to the conclusion it was discord. While it's open nothing happens but as soon as i enter a voice chat i get an fps drop and when i leave the call everything returns to normal. i have all the latest nvidia drivers even done a clean install with DDU, i tried reinstalling the audio drives, disabling all the overlays (discord, steam etc...) and the hardware acceleration of discord. Nothing have even reduces this drop does anyone have any idea why this happens?

Does the issue persist after a PC restart after you disabled the overlays?

yes i restarted the computer. even reduced the cores discord can use, tried to lower and increase his priority but no dice

Hm... I knew that discord can cause these kind of issue. Yet I am still surprise how much it affects you.

Last idea I would have is increasing the performance for graphics with MHR and reducing it with discord. That is a separate options from the process which you should be able to find with the Windows settings.

I am curious about the results - so please let me know ~

i think i know what setting are you referring to, i had already set HMR to high performance i reduced it for discord but still no difference. Also i tried with MH World, which is much heavier than MHR, to see if the drop would continue to show up but no, the fps remained stable at what it was before entering the voice chat on discord

Hm... people keep saying Denuvo is some sort of bane, the anti DRM/anti cheat measures of the game. Unless the coding is so much worse in comparison to MHW that would be one of the logical suspects left: the anti-tampering software which might recognise any kind of overlay attempt as invasive action.

But then I do not know how the overlay with discord works. As in: if you e.g. deactivate the overlay from Nvidia - that one I know - the app which is responsible for the overlay is still active. Maybe discord is different in that regards and has its overlay on stand by.

Especially the newer version which has the streaming functions. Those you have turned off as well, yes?

Is ingame voice chat off too? Just in case.

Hm... my final conclusion would be: nothing which can be done seemingly, and probably a RAM issue. How much RAM do you have available to begin with? Actual RAM and virtual RAM that is.

16gb ram 2666 and 6gb of vram (gtx 1060)

Ah, yeah ~ virtual RAM is something different than video RAM. It is a pseudo RAM made by Windows on your storage. It is suspected that if the virtual RAM is smaller than your actual RAM it might cause issues.

Could be. It is hard to tell since it is one of those issues where probably each other of the parties would blame the other without anyone taking responsibility.

I will keep an eye out and post here again should I come across a solution for you by accident. Until then it is a question how important the voice chat via discord for you is. :-/

Funny idea: would the issue occur if you are using a different voice chat? At least you could tell whether it is really a discord issue or a voice chat issue.
