Computer-crashing freezes

I suddenly started getting a freeze after 15-20mins of gameplay that completely locks my PC. The ambient sound effects still play, but the game is locked. After a while my monitors go black. I played the game for 12+ hours fine and suddenly I'm having this issue over and over.

The only difference between my 12+ hours of playing and the issue I'm having now is that I am am chatting on discord voice chat at the same time. Anyone experience this issue or know what is causing it?

I'm on discord all the time and haven't had an issue yet. Are you monitoring your temps? This game is surprisingly CPU hog.

By the way I found the solution to this while searching the forums. The issue was Borderless mode is apparently unstable. Fullscreen fixed it.

NEVERMIND. I got the crash again. Graphics driver crash issue since everything NVIDIA stopped working (like Broadcast).

I have a suspicion. Though that would need you to report how it is working for you when you have discord turned off.

GPU driver crashes are usually the result of unstable overclocking. Try to downclock your GPU a bit using stuff like MSI afterburner and see if it helps.

I have the same problem. It comes from shaders. I'm in HR5 but I had to reboot after each hunt to avoid crashing during quests.
And I'm not overcloking.

My latest "solution" (meaning it hasn't crashed yet) is to turn off my other monitors. It seems to be something to do with having a multimonitor setup. The display drivers crash and turn off the monitors. If I get another crash with only 1 monitor on I'll update. But this is really dumb.

My Pc crashed now twice completely.... No overclocks. Last time my pc crashed is like 5 years ago.

I just had it crash again even on 1 monitor, however the crash happened differently. Instead of freezing and completely blacking out my monitors for minutes until it comes back, it just popped up with the normal d3d error and crashed to desktop when you clicked ok on the popup straight away, without any lag or major issues (other than the crash).

Ok just had it crash in exactly the same way with only 1 monitor. Multi-monitor has nothing to do with it. This is clearly just a straight up NVIDIA driver problem.

I know there was a problem with amd processors and graphics cards having some nasty issues with this game
