Yup, rise is the better game. Been replaying world ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ there's alot of problems. Monsters never stop attacking. Every area is tiny prob because it was made for snoystation 4. All the weapons look the same. The Armor sets are all bland.

Whenever folks try to use the "Rise was made on Switch which is why it sucks!" I bring up that World couldnt even hit 25 FPS on the PS4.

I like Rise more than World, but I still recognise that the game was held back. Both graphically, and technically, by starting as a Switch game.

am i the only person who appreciates nintendo for forcing devs to actually optimise their games instead of relying on whatever is the latest and most powerful hardware at the time + mah realismtic graphics instead of actual good visual design?
the 'lack of limitations' on MHW caused my old laptop to melt and my new one to need a complete hard drive replacement, and it still looks like desaturated trash with too much clutter and not enough creativity

did you know i just recently found out that the design of coral highlands + rotten vale are both based on underwater biomes? the vale is supposed to be the deep abyssal area of the ocean, with the coral reef above letting it's nutrients aka 'snowfall' flow down to feed the scavengers below. you'd never figure this just from pure in-game exploration, not helped by the plot being "That's where everything goes to die!" which completely destroys / reverses the cycle that you'd otherwise notice here.
based on everything you see and hear in the game, it's just a pit of corpses and that's it. odogaron, the only vale monster that actually drags fallen legiana corpses around, is also the only vale monster that comes up to HUNT the legianas instead of relying on this cycle, and the only other memorable monster from this location is vaal hazak which is literally just a zombie dragon
it's such a freaking cool design and idea to base these biomes on the ocean, and yet look at what we have. a completely white and dead forgettable coral area that nobody has any reason to explore or hunt in beyond the tiny legiana/kirin areas and a bland, crimson pile of fetid corpses with no memorable monsters except a crimson fleshdog and a crimson fleshdragon. I think the only non-endemic life that you can actually point at as being vaguely oceanic themed is legiana, and only in the colours/wing design, and it's only noticeable if you have that damn nudibranch photo in mind in the first place

oh my god this game released 5 whole years ago and im still finding reasons to rant about the coral highlands

The game was not "held back", take that BS back to reddit. MonHun games had been made on 3DS and PSP for longer than most MH players have been alive, and then they were on the Wii and WiiU. Rise was optimized properly, unlike World, which could barely run on it's own home consoles. You dont need a ton of shiny bells and whistles for MH, you need monsters and hunting.

I'm glad someone else recognizes the "colorful environment" of the Highlands is literally in like, 3 areas where 90% of the time you never go to. If youre grinding, youre only seeing grey. I will give credit tho, the peak of the Highlands def feels and looks like youre on an island when looking down.
I think they had so many underwater themed areas because they were starting to push for the return of underwater. The MonHun team wants it back, they just dont know how.

Some find the wirebug feature make the game too easy by giving players too many free 'out of jail cards'.
Some find the fast pace combat a massive let down by getting close to generic hack'n slash games than what MH used to be.
Some question the graphic fidelity.

Rise does many things better. For one, I like the maps more (to hell with ancient forest labyriths and hunting a rathalos there before iceborn and the auto-tracking rides).

I do like the introduction of AI controlled hunters as someone who played solo from OG Monster Hunter up to M4U, I hope they keep that for the next game.

Weapons not being the same 3 models with a few feathers and skin here and there is a big plus (shame on you capcom for that half assed models on world).

However, I'm no fan of the faster paced combat as it divert too much from the classic strategical approach and go more towards mindless action with very few interruptions.

Also hope they throw collecting those buff bugs across the map into the oblivion bin, alogside underwater combat from 3.

TL;DR: It changed too much and too quickly for many people out there.
How does faster combat = mindless? It's the same combat, you just have less time to react.

World is the better game. The combat is better, the atmosphere is better, the quality is better.

I like Rise, but I'm not a weeb, so my judgement isn't clouded by weeb goggles.

this game looks great in 4k on high settings wym?

"The combat is better" Switch skills and wirebugs add so much variety to the combat, World feels really bland in comparison. And the monster selection is much better too, with old favorites like rathalos getting a major rework, finally becoming a fun fight. In world rathalos would sit in the air shooting fireball until you flashed him, at which point he devolved into a lamer rathian. Also no clutch claw

Clearly you're just wearing weeb goggles like everyone else who thinks that Rise is a good Monster Hunter game :steammocking:

This post is nonsensical. Try again.

The monsters were injected with crack to compensate. That's not better. Monster Hunter is devolving into a button-masher if it keeps going this direction instead of strategic combat like it always has been.

Don't respond unless you can actually read and understand what you're responding to. My post says that I like Rise, but that World is better. You clearly either did not read the post, or you do not comprehend basic language.

You are why games cost 70 USD, take up 150GB of space, and give 6 hours of gameplay.

Playing through 3 ultimate currently. Monsters have ALWAYS been on crack. Enraged high rank, not g rank, black diablos can literally knock me down, and attack again before I can even get up. ♥♥♥♥, great baggi in g rank feels like its lagging with how fast it is.

3U literally feels like rise creature speed, without the hunter speed to back it up. Which makes it both difficult, and frustrating.
